Hoping to boost this year's sales — and prove that it's still "waaaay better than fast food" — fast food chain Wendy's has announced plans to unveil a new menu item, boneless chicken wings, later this month. The boneless wings — which will compete head to head with KFC's new Kentucky Grilled Chicken — come in three different flavors: Sweet & Spicy Asian, Honey BBQ, and Bold Buffalo. "Our new Boneless Wings are as far as it gets from fast food," Ken Calwell, Wendy's chief marketing officer, said. "Sweet & Spicy Asian wings are something you'd find at an upscale restaurant."
The new item will set you back $3.99 for seven to nine wings (depending on weight), and will be available in a combo meal for $5.69. Since I'm a buffalo wing fiend, I'll definitely check these out — although I'm skeptical about the idea of them being "upscale restaurant" fare. Still, with McDonald's doing froufrou coffee drinks and Burger King barbecuing ribs, the fast food climate seems to be changing. Do fast food's newest items interest you?

i have to say that i have zero interest in any of these new items. i get that they are all evolving their menus but it's over kill at this point.
1We have the boneless chicken wings here already. I have tried them, and they are pretty good. I had mine with the side salad and although I know the wings are prolly alot worse nutritionally than I want to know, I felt like I was eating healthier. Their side salads rock. They are always fresh and good, no brown lettuce and everything is crisp. They are a decent size too.
2i guess indianapolis is a test market, cause we've had them for at least a month. they're exactly what they say they are: pieces of chicken doused with flavored sauces. i'd say they're about as good as the ones we can get at BW3. I remember there being a ridiculous number of pieces for the price point. It's nice to have the change of pace from burgers, I guess. For as seldom as I visit fast food restaurants, the variety of food/drink options are beginning to be unbearable.
3We have them in WV too and they aren't bad. My husband likes them.
4wonder if we have these in california yet. if not, i hope we get them soon. i love boneless buffallo wings, and the sweet and spicy ones look yummy too!
5woopsie! buffalo.
6Something about boneless wings freaks me out. I dunno, it's just like a boneless drumstick or something. Weird.
7"Sweet & Spicy Asian wings are something you'd find at an upscale restaurant." Is this dude for real?

8The images are irrelevant - this was a radio ad. But it's brilliant.
Boneless wings are a little weird. When I had them, my son said, "so boneless wings...aren't they just nuggets?"
9i'm looking fwd to trying these! they look yummy! i'm not sure if they are going to be upscale or not..i mean it's still wendys..but all in all i'm sure they will be good.
10they don't interest me at all. I stop into Wendy's because it's so cheap. 3.99 is not cheap. Also when I go to a fast food restaurant it's to eat fast food. If I want normal food I'll cook at home or get actual restaurant takeout.
11So, so over priced! I actually laughed when I opened the bag. I felt embarrassed for Wendy's a little bit, it was sad really. But they did taste good but for 4 bucks ...lmao. it was so ridiculous.
12Oh no. These were chicken nuggets in WAY too much sauce. They were dry on the inside, chewy on the outside and practically inedible because they were sitting in a cup of sauce. I'd much rather have their ($1.29) nuggets and dunk 'em myself!
13I loooooove their honey BBQ boneless chicken wings. I'll admit that 3.99 is a little overpriced, but sometimes it s just worth it.
