This device is called a Ceramic Pot Minder and it's meant to help keep your pots from boiling over. Just simply place it into the bottom of your pot when cooking or warming pasta, soups, vegetables or milk. When the liquid starts boiling, he'll start clanging around reminding you to tend to your cooking.

the piece of bread works wonders for brown sugar. just leave it in there overnight, and the brown sugar will have absorbed all the moisture from the bread, thereby making it soft again, and the piece of bread will be hard and stale. an easy and simple fix.

:::Another way to avoid boiling over::: Add a bit of olive oil to your boiling water, it breaks the surface tension.

Wouldn't this cause the water or soup or whatever to take a much longer time to boil? I stand over the water and wait what feels like hours for it boil :D. I think maybe something you drop in that makes the water boil real fast, like the things they put in MREs (those food packs the military takes with them) would be great.

Me, too, Haze1nut!! =D Looks just like one, doesn't it? This is pretty good ... but doesn't help if I've stepped out of the kitchen - aka - out of hearing range, lol. Oh well - maybe I'll get a timer to clip to my belt or something for that ... yeah right, I can't remember where I put the keys, much less remember THAT. :rotfl:

i'm guessing you have to take it out then?? and not just cook with it in there? haha, i know that would take like 20 seconds, but it just seems like a pain to me. i hate waiting for water to boil, i always check it like 6 times! so maybe this would actually free me to just sit at the table and read my book while I wait..I have the opposite of the problem it is trying to combat!
