What Do You Know About Apple Pie?

I'm not totally sure why National Apple Pie Day is in May — being that apples are a fall fruit — but I'm more than happy to celebrate. Apple pie is one of those dishes that tastes great no matter what time of year, so why not enjoy it now? If you've ever wanted to know more about apple pie, here's your chance. I've put together this little quiz, so let's get started!

Pie with cheese is to die for! I didn't even know you could put cheese on pie until I saw it on Pushing Daisies. That show makes me hungry with all the shots of delicious looking pie and cheese.

I disagree with your 1st question - a pie without a top crust is a tart. A tarte tatin is a tart that is baked upside down inside a skillet: a special kind of open tart. I can't just take the lid off of my apple pie and call it a tarte tatin - my french friends would kill me.

I initially thought that apple pie with cheese sounded gross, but then I guess it's just a sweet and savory mix. It's typical that the Brits started the tradition! I guess you can't knock it unless you've tried it...

Funny, I already planned to make apple pie today before I even knew it was apple pie day. Strange... do you suppose it's the power of apple pie day? That people get the strange urge to make it today of all days?
