What Is the Hardest Part of Top Chef?

Although they may have differing opinions on Padma and Tom, each week when I interview the eliminated Top Chef contestants, one thing remains constant. Everyone says that no matter how much they may have prepared, the competition is more challenging than they expected. Can you imagine how difficult it must be to compete on Top Chef? What do you think would be the most demanding part of participating?

I don't know this blog writer but dude, Jake, you are right on target. Couldn't agree with you more about the choice of Kelly choi. I went to Columbia with her. Choi PINED after JOSH KELLY now at espn. He dumped her for a gorgeous blonde, and Choi screamed at Elliott in the Columbia hallways. choi was a laughing stock at school and she then got hired for ONE month at NEWS 12 BRONX by Camilo Pombo. I saw Choi's air checks then ( about 6 years ago) Man she Sucked! Choi is NO sincere soul. She is not 32 as wikipedia states and she slummed around NYC writing freelance after news 12 trying to make it some how before she begged Arick Wierson at NYC TV for a shot. PEOPLE at NYC TV (not management) do not think highly of CHOI. CHOI goes to these RED CARPET EVENTS in evening gowns TRYING BEGGING CRYING, "LOOK AT ME PLEASE I AM KELLY CHOI." She has no purpose at these events and paparazzi friends of mine remark they take her pix because she just bares leg at the male photogs. How many wanna bet CHOI will crash and burn or just end up marrying a rich old geezer like JULIE CHEN OR WENDI DENG. Pathetic.

Honestly, there really isn't too much else other than the elimination challenges. Sure, it's nice to win the quickfire, but it means nothing long term. You don't go home because you messed up a quickfire.And judge's table...sure it might be harsh sometimes, but you already did what you could (during the elimination challenge).

i think the elimination challenges would be tough, but for me i think the worst would be their schedule. it seems like they film nonstop for only a few weeks, with challenges every single day. i really think that would wear me down - richard blais talked about that on one of his blogs from bravo this season, how it's all go go go without really any days off. plus the judges table scenes often go well into the morning, so they're up for days at a time. i'm tired just thinking about it haha.

Putting up with the likes of Tiffany, Marcel, Hung, Spike, and Danny might push me over the edge.

For me the hardest part would be being away from family and friends. As you can see from contestants like Stefan, a really great chef can make the most of any contest or situation. Without my support system around me and having no idea what the people I love are doing, I would be soooo distracted.

I would say the judge's table because I tend to be really sensitive to criticism, even constructive criticism. I even get pissed when my husband says something even mildly critical of my food; I would probably start bawling if someone said it tasted like old cat food or something like that.

i would have to say that the elimination challenges are the hardest part. the quick fires are hard but they don't really mean that you'd go home, so it's not like they are the most worrisome piece of the whole thing. i feel like the elimination challenges are life and death and that's probably the hardest piece of it all.
