What Temperature Do You Like Your Beer?

The Los Angeles Times ran a story this week about the growing popularity of cask-conditioned ales, which are yeastier, unpasteurized beers usually served at 55 degrees. Some people don't like drinking beer that lukewarm, though I have one friend who loves cask ales because he prefers the taste of beer when it's room temperature. What about you?

ice cold to chilled. The warmer it gets the flatter and nastier it tastes. It's like drinking champagne or soda warm. Yuck!

I agree with the few people before me, if you only like your beer super cold, you probably don't really like beer much. Some beer is best chilled, others not. I love beer, to an inappropriate degree. :)

i like it suuuuper cold... like, i would make a popsicle out of beer if i could... gotta have it in a frosty beer glass or mug too!

If it's cheap beer like Keystone Light or Milwaukee's Best Light, I like it really really cold so it's a little less cheap-tasting, lol. But if I'm savoring a nice Leinie's Honey Weiss or a Fat Tire, I like it chilled but not super cold...I think the flavor comes through better.

I don't drink beer. But if I ever did I would think the colder the better would taste better. But NOT ice cold of course.

I'm with jogar on this one- if you drink beer ice cold, you probably don't like beer. I personally only really enjoy stouts and porters, so around 50 degrees fahrenheit is my ideal. Also, beer has been "the new wine" in places like Philadelphia and Portland for a while now.

I agree that it depends on the beer and the cheaper the beer the colder. I am a big stout fan, so definitely not ice cold. Beer is becoming the new wine and I love it.

The temperature of the beer depends entirely on the type of beer (http://www.beerutopia.com/?p=187). Proper beer temp can be anywhere from 32-61 F (http://www.ratebeer.com/Story.asp?StoryID=479). Those that say they like their beer ice cold probably don't really like beer and numbing their taste buds is the only way they can choke it down.

I have about one beer a year, and I want it iced cold. Once it starts getting to room temperature, I lose all interest in it.

I don't drink beer but I know that a lot of people prefer their beer cold. Some of my friends actually prefer it warm which just sounds so gross to me.

I tend to drink my beer at about cellar temperature. That's basically a beer kept in my pantry that's tossed in the fridge for 5-10 minutes before drinking. Sometimes I drink them straight out of the pantry and they're never actually warm.

Ice cold beer? only cheap beer that you'd rather not taste.... I prefer my beer to be chilled, but not cold or super cold, I buy my beer for the tatse so I like to actually be able to taste it..
