PartySugar and I have already planned our Thanksgiving menus, and now we're just eagerly awaiting the big day. To distract our giddy selves, we had a discussion about what we're serving to drink at Thanksgiving dinner. She'll be serving a citrus spritzer, Champagne, and Beaujolais, while DearSugar will be drinking red, white, and bubbly. As for me, I haven't decided yet — I'll serve either a Gewurtztraminer or a Pinot Noir.
What will you and your guests be drinking? Once you've made your selection below, tell me in the comments exactly what you'll be pouring!
1928 Collection
Champagne cocktails, most likely
1no one can afford bubbly??
2Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
3Probably red, it is cold here...
4We usually have red and white, plus beer for the non-wine-drinkers, and my sister makes martinis. Not that I indulge in all of them in one night or anything
5I'm not sure what kind of bubbly we will be having this year, but last Thanksgiving it was my favorite: Dom Perignon!
6A pinot noir or a bordeaux, most likely.
7Maybe Milk or Water?? Sadly no wine at my bf mothers.
8delicious pinot noir from windward vineyards in central calif. and some yummy reds from spain that my sister in law brought back from her trip. cheers (clink) and happy thanksgiving to everyone!
9mmmm red wine, but I'll have to wait til we get back home.
10Most likely water, by choice.
11I am bringing a bottle of Red wine to my in laws as they don't drink.
12Pinot Noir, Malbec, and Chardonnay at my parentals house.
I bring Prosecco over to my bf's rents house every year. We drink that as well as Pinot Grigio with the occasional Corona (for my non-wine drinking bf)
13Red wine
14Pinot Noir and Reisling, and with appetizers, that cocktail that was posted here a week or so ago, with cranberry juice cocktail juice (light), some sugar and lime juice, champagne and triple sec (I was going to get Grand Marniere (sp?) but it was $37.00!) My brothers will probably have beer.
15Champagne cocktails with pomegranate with appetizers then pinot noir with the turkey
16Red wine and champagne.
17Party, I am totally with you. Gerwurtz is usually my Thanksgiving wine of choice, but as one of my guests only drinks red wine, we are having Pinot Noir and Beaujolais!
18Freixenet is a fabulously affordable bubbly, it's in a black bottle and sells for about 10 dollars a bottle. It's really yummy!
19if i were having the meal at my own home, i would assume that we would have red since that's our drink of choice for dinner, however my fiance and i are at HIS parent's house and it's not likely that wine will be on the menu. i'm guessing it's going to be tea or water.
20I'll be drinking water this Thanksgiving, since my in-laws don't drink...YAY!!
21Hehe, several of the above. My parents friends usually make sangria, and I'll probably have some wine or a beer. Perhaps bubbly if there is some.
22As the hostess this year, I have several different likes to please. So, like the meal, there will be something for everyone...apple martini's (made with real apple juice NOT Pucker, yuck!), Riesling, Pinot Noir, and juice or flavored sparkling water (for those who don't drink). We're saving the bubbly for my sister's birthday on Saturday! HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
23As for us, the question is what WON'T we drink??
During Thanksgiving, the spirits
flow freely around here. Most likely, we'll have hot mulled cider with brandy, ice wine, Merlot, pomegranate and vodka cocktail, and whatever alcohol my Mom saved for Thanksgiving. I think
there's alcohol in our recipes, too, and we would take a swig of that to make sure it's good. LOL
24Chardonnay for Apps and then Pinot Noir with the Turkey and Zinfindel with the Prime Rib. Can't wait!!
25I'll probably take a Riesling or Pinot Noir to my parents. We usually don't drink for Thanksgiving dinner, but now since my sister is 'legal' I thought I'd take a bottle.
26I'm with GlowingMoon...my fam and my boy's are big on drinking. We'll have Pinot Noir at my parents' and I'll bring a bottle of champagne to his grandparents', in case i don't like what they're drinking
the boy doesn't drink, though, so I'll try not to lush out too
much.
27I'm saving all my cocktails for Friday night! I'm leaving the boyfriend at home and going out for girls' night!
28Hopefully some Pumpkin Spice ale.
29The fam I am hanging out with doesnt drink so I will be abstaining for a change
30The kids and nondrinkers get apple cider. We have red & white wine & reisling w/dessert. My favorite is mulled cider - I just love the holidays!
31h20
32And Evan William's Egg Nog. Yummy.
33Riesling and Pinot Noir are my recs!!
Cheers,
34Angela
It's not that I don't like or can't afford bubbly, it's that I don't think it's right for Thanksgiving. Me? Beer.
35I don't like wine with my meals. I have it afterwards. With my meal, I will have iced tea (Texan, what can I say?) or water.
36I was with the family, so I had only one beer (which I didn't finish anyway) and spent the rest of the afternoon drinking water.
37Wine, Bubbly, Peppermint patties & Hot butter rums!!
