Wine Glass Holder Necklace: Love It or Hate It?

I saw this wine glass neck strap ($24.95) over at Spluch and just have to say that I think it's quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen. You would look incredibly dorky at a party, and I imagine you'd have this weird stain right where the lip of the glass touches your shirt. Having said that, I can see where it would be really handy at a wine tasting where you are juggling your notebook and pen in one hand and your glass in another. So what do you think? Do you think it's hip and wonderfully practical? Or are you skeptical and think it's just a bit too ridiculous?

Anyone who has broken their glass at a festival trying to make tasting notes and balance wine and food will love this....I KNOW!!!!! I have one for a festival we are going to in October!!! I don't really care if I look dorky!!!

While it may look geeky, there are many people for whom attending a wine festival is difficult, at best. The wheelchair-bound, for example. They like to attend wine festivals, too, but holding objects is difficult for many of them, made more-so when the festivals are outdoors, and the terrain is less than level and smooth. The able-bodied people who push those wheelchairs need both hands to do so and a 'hands-free' device allows both to enjoy the festivities.

I find it interesting that many may think this item funny and/or stupid...and they may be right in most social situations. However, this item becomes a useful tool to those that attend wine tours or wine tastings. It is akin to wearing a hard hat at a construction site. There is a time and a place for everything.

Saw dozens of people wearing them at Woodinville Wine festival last weekend. They don't look great, but the people wearing them swore by them. Even at the end of a 5 hour tasting day, I didn't see any the red wine stains on their chest that I anticipated. I have MS and use a walker to get around so one of these would give me more independence. I have to rely on someone else to get me my wine because I can not walk and carry the glass.

Anything that keeps two hands free for working the buffet, sounds good to me! Seriously though, everytime I have seen these used it is at large wine tasting events. Typically, your glass isn't filled, just a tasting is poured then you move to the next winemaker's booth.

I know it looks lame but at an all day wine festival when you are tasting lots of wines for several hours, it's nice to have. We bought them a couple of years ago at the festival after I spilt a glass trying to juggle too many things at once. They were maybe 5 bucks. I'd never use it out of that context.

I don't usually have a strong enough opinion to say "love" or "hate"... but this time, it's a definite HATE!! Although I have to agree with that it'd be a funny gag gift for certain people.
