Would You Drink a Hot Smoothie?

Coffee and tea are so passé. At the St. Mark's Place location of Surf City Squeeze in Manhattan, it's all about the hot smoothie. New York Press writer Justin Richards decides to try it out, and concludes it's not really his cup of ~~tea~~ hot smoothie: "If you don't drink it soon enough, it's like you're cleaning your apartment the morning after a smoothie party," he explains. Would you give it a whirl?

I wouldn't be too sure on anything fruit based being served hot but I have had an oatmeal, milk and honey type smoothie hot and that was really yummy. It was just like my usual hot porridge in the morning just a tad milkier and blended up.

So funny! When I saw the title of this article, I was shocked that there were multiple places that serve hot smoothies, but it turns out you mentioned the one I walk by on my way to work! Insane. The idea of a hot smoothie freaks me out, smoothies should be cold. Maybe I'll give it a try and report back though. :-)

It sounds kind of nasty. Why not just drink a hot coffee drink or a cup of hot cocoa? Or eat a bowl of soup? How does one make a "hot smoothie" anyway? What do you make it with?

the thought sounds really gross. maybe it tastes good but i just have associated fruits and smoothies and juices to be cold.

I'd try it ... but to be honest, it sounds disgusting and I don't think I'd like it. Hot, thick, fruity drinks ... yuck.

i have to say that this just doesn't sound all that appetizing to me...so i'd have to pass. i'm sure that it's right up someone's alley - just not mine.

I couldn't at least if I made it. I use whey isolate protein powder in all my smoothies that I make. If you heat the whey protein powder over 112 degrees you diminish the amount of protein in the smoothie so I'd just end up with a hot thick fruit drink with no really value to me. Even getting into the 90 degree range starts to reduce the amount of protein in the smoothies I make.
