As soon as I heard that Jack in the Box was debuting these Cheesy Macaroni Bites, I knew I had to try them. Macaroni and cheese is my favorite comfort food, and I love trying the latest flavor of any item to come out of the deep fryer.
I almost had a heart attack when I learned what the calories were on this tiny snack, (although it could have been that my arteries were already filling up with saturated fat). Still, the petite wedges — with their gooey, cheesy interior and crispy, golden, battered exterior — were delicious.
In the future, I think I'd have a hard time enjoying them without feeling sharp pangs of guilt. What do you think: Would you be able to enjoy them?

Pineapple
Fried mac & cheese has become a bit of an obsession for me. If I am someplace that has it I have to get it. Our local Renaissance festival even has it.
1You only go around once! Everything in moderation. I could never say "no" to fried mac & cheese!
2sure!!! never tried it, but it looks so good. yum!
3no way!!
4Oh yeah! It's CHEESE! And anyone that tried to take it from me would get their lower lip stapled to their forhead.
5*forehead*
6GLB67,
Moderation? When it comes to cheese? For me, a serving of cheese is whatever is in front of me.
7I would eat it... but then feel OH SO guilty. and fat.
8I've eaten fried m+c in college (haha where else??) a few times. it was okay but something I had to eat on an empty stomach and in very small quantities.
9I love this stuff!!
10I want to try them but I will resist.
11I've seen that somewhere... but I can't place it.
12Yeah uptown...it was featured on a foodie blog, but a much prettier version and showcased on the famous 'tatsespotting.' That's where i first saw it anyways!
I actually made it for my sweetie, he liked it but i wouldn't go near eating it lol.
13Oh My Goodness! of course i would eat this! they have really awesome fried mac and cheese balls at the Cheesecake Factory!! Yummy!
14I usually don't eat deep fried foods. My friend ordered an appetizer of fried mac n' cheese and I tried one. Though I am a die hard fan of cheese, I did not care for them.
15I can only have a couple of bites.
16i had these at sonic, and after i ate them, i regretted it. i'll pass
17I tried it a few years ago at a chain restaurant and I thought they were so-so. I know Sonic has fried mac & cheese on their menu but I don't think I would try them again.
18i love mac n' cheese. and i love fried anything. this just doesn't sound good. and it isn't.
not to mention the fact that Jack in the Box chose to get rid of my two favorite items which are 9well, were, sadly) much tastier than this one (they killed the Oreo Shake & the Mozz Sticks - both were fantastic!)
so not only do i hate them for those 2, but i hate that they replaced the good things with this grossness. i'm sad
19Sadly, I succumbed to these at Lucky Strike in Hollywood a couple of years ago. It was a work-related happy hour and I was famished . . . and perhaps a bit tipsy. I don't remember it tasting like anything other than hot and fried.
20Miami is such a wasteland with none of the best fast food restaurants...we may have top notch 5 star eateries but alas, no Jack in the Box.
21and to Just Oh: I cant find anything wrong with "hat and fried" sounds tasty to me.
I would try them but probably wouldn't like them very much.
22On the other hand, the photo reminded me of another caloric treasure: Corn Nuggets!!! omg... so yummy and bad all at once!!
I tried some at the cheesecake factory and LOVED it. Its very filling though.
23I've had it before and it was great! But...I really shouldn't be eating it and I'm not going to continue
24Fried Mac & Cheese is soooo good!! My friends convinced me to try it when we were at T.G.I. Fridays & I was glad I did
25I've never heard of them, but they do look yummy. I'd try them.
26Oh, I'd eat it. More than a bite, but probably not a whole serving (whatever that is). Then I'd feel pretty gross. But it would be worth it. I tried fried oreos last year, and that's pretty much what happened then.
27Most likely no. I reserve one fried indulgence when my period is about to start but it most likely won't be this.
28I would, and I have. I just cant remember where. The fair maybe?
29i totally would. TGI Fridays has an appetizer of this on their menu which is really good - so of course i would dive right in and have those. i don't care if it's fried or not good for me - it's mac n cheese!
30Mmmmmm, fried mac & cheese. I even started making my own lighter version - breaded and baked. It's good but nothing beats the real thing.
31I've had these at Sonic and they are DELICIOUS. The Sonic in my lovely college town was open 24/7, and these are great after bar hopping.
You know what else is good? Black eyed pea fritters. I had those at a place in Charleston, SC. Now I wonder how many other Thanksgiving foods would be better fried!
32OMG sugaNspice24, the Cheesecake Factory has Fried Mac N Cheese Balls to DIE for!!
33i would hate my self in the morning but oh yeah baby!
34i'm all for cheesey and fried but those just don't look appetizing to me...too heavy or something.
35I'll try them...they look good!!
36Absolutely!
37I would definately try it!
38Jack in the Box, you said?
I have to have these!
39I eat it at Sonic all the time. It's a guilty pleasure my youngest daughter and I share.
40I've always wanted to try it. They don't sell them ready made anywhere here.
41There's a bar that I go to that has this on the menu but I've never ordered it. Maybe I'll have to give it a try.
42It's horrifying and yet such an irresistible idea. I'd have to try a bite.
43best bar food e-v-e-r
44I love the cheesecake factory version....I would absolutely try!
45I'm not above that at all and would totally try them, but sadly I have made the commitment to eating healthier and losing some weight...where the hell were these earlier though? Damnit!
46We've actually made them ourselves at a friends house that has a deep fryer (we refuse to get one at our house) and they are pure awesomeness on a plate.
47OMG DROOL
48the one in the picture looks absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
feed me one right now pleasee
mmm fried mac n cheese is good!
49I used to work at the food company that produces these for JIB. Part of our job was Quality Control and we had to fry them up to make sure they were good. Honestly, they didn't appeal to me because I don't usually eat stuff that rich, but they were a huge hit with my coworkers' kids.
