Would You Eat Jam on Your Grilled Cheese Sandwich?

Whenever my dad would make grilled cheese sandwiches, he would always end up coating the top of his with grape jelly. As a kid, I copied him and have grown up enjoying the delicious pairing of sweet and savory. It may sound weird, but a lot of folks use fig spread and it's not much different than that. Last night I ended up having a simple one with raspberry-peach jam, and thought it was an extremely flavorful pairing. So tell me, would you eat this grilled cheese sandwich?

I love grape or apple jam on my grilled cheese sandwich.! I didn't come across it until I used to babysit my little cousin and for breakfast I would make her a grilled cheese sandwich. When it was done she would put grape jam on top of the sandwich. At first i thought it was weird, until i tried it. It has a sweet yet wonderful unexplainable taste to it. That is now my favorite way to eat my grilled cheese.

Depending on the cheese and the jam it might be good. Sounds interesting and I could see why someone would like it.

I tried this!! Last night I had a grilled tomato and mozarella sandwich made for me in my dorm's cafeteria, but the woman making the sandwich only put two slices of tomato on the whole thing, so I was left with a lot of plain grilled cheese... so I grabbed the only jam I have in my room (raspberry), and it was actually pretty good!! I'll have to keep experimenting when I have the resources for the perfect jam and cheese combination. :)

mild cheese and fig are so yummy on pumpernickel and instead of butter for the grilling use a thin spread of real mayo. another winner is same bread sharp cheddar, smoked turkey, basil and tomatoes salt and pepper. I love grilled cheese and will try it most ways.

well i love brie and raspberry preserves together, so this seems like a natural pairing to me! plus, i'll try most anything once :)

I love Fig or Strawberry preserves with my grilled cheese. I typically use white cheddar, brie, or gruyere cheese on sourdough bread. It's so yummy! And it reminds me of Paris.

I'm a HUGE fan of peanut butter on my grilled cheese and bet the jam/jelly would be good, especially if you used a slightly salty cheese to compliment the sweet spread. Mmmm, now I'm hungry...

They have jam and cheese panini's at my college, which are yummy. I love trying interesting combination sandwiches.

Maybe. I would have to be in a mood for trying new food combinations. Sometimes I just want something I already know is good, rather than expiermenting,lol.

I love the combination of sweet and savory- I love sweet with EVERYTHING! I'm not really a cheese fan, but this sounds yummy. I'd definitely use all-fruit spread instead of jam or jelly though.
