Would You Eat This Tropical Fruit Chutney?

A couple weeks ago, at a buffet dinner, I came across this gross-looking condiment. The only ingredient I recognized was pecans.

As I was about to quickly pass by, I noticed a little sign that said, "Tropical Fruit Chutney with Pecans — Tastes better than it looks!" I couldn't help but laugh; the poor chutney was so ugly it needed a disclaimer!

After snapping a quick picture, I scooped some onto my plate. Could you be as brave?

"Tropical" usually means mango or papaya or kiwi (or all three) is involved, so I would pass on this one. I have tried dishes that look grim but are very tasty, though.

I would prefer it to be more colorful & fresh, but might try it. Maybe a spoonful over ice cream? :?

everyone thinks my chicken liver looks disgusting, but it's delicious :) so yeah, i'd give it a go.

Sadly I have no option but to not get near it as I am allergic to nuts.

I wouldn't PAY to try it...but if they had free samples or if a friend bought it I might try a little bit. :-P Besides, I've never had chutney!

I typically love chutney and make it a lot but I wouldn't touch this.

I'd at least try it. I make a dip out of yogurt and salsa that looks kinda weird, but tastes really yummy, so I'd definitely at least give this one a shot. So WAS it any good? I'm curious!

I actually don't think this looks that bad. The sign would have had me at "chutney".

I don't like chutney, so you couldn't pay me to try a chutney that looked like that.

I will pretty much try any food, so naturally, I'd try it!

I have said the same thing about some dishes I really love... For example a greek skillet dish with spinach, tomatoes, feta and chickpeas.. it doesn't look so fresh once you mix it all together, but it's sooo good.
