Would You Rather Eat Chocolate Chip Cookies or Dough?

My latest batch of chewy chocolate chip cookies were just about perfect — yet it wasn't the cookies I couldn't stop sneaking, but rather the dough. I can't get enough of that soft, granular dough, flecked with bits of chocolate crunch from the not-yet-melted chips. What do you think: are chocolate chip cookies better before or after they go into the oven?

Dough!!! (And no, I'm not Obese, Anon 16, not even close) I make my dough egg-free and eat as much as I want.

tough choice...... wow. hmm. i think i would go with cookie, because you can dip it in the milk of your choice :)

I LOVE COOKIE DOUGH but when eating it (esp. if sharing w/ young children) I always use pasteurized shell eggs, such as Davidson's Safest Choice.

And @ticamorena; I also don't enjoy things that are too sweet, but there are lots of different recipes! Savory muffins, fruit-topping on cupcakes, whole wheat cookies, and small amounts of natural sweeteners keep them from feeling like an instant cavity. Food blogs have all kinds of great alternative recipes. But donuts... there's no fix for that one, they're just ridiculous.

Only the obese, huh? Amber512, I guess you and I are both delusional. I love cookie dough... in fact, I love ALL doughs and batters. I assume that if the batter doesn't taste good, the finished product won't be that great, either. I AM a stickler for homemade dough and cookies; all those strange ingredients in pre-packaged dough can't be good.

What about a choice for "both"? :) I love the dough but also love the finished product of a hot, gooey cookie right out of the oven!

Neither. Who needs all that fat and sugar? And raw cookie dough - ugh, how gross. Only the obese would eat raw cookie dough. Why is "neither" not an answer to the survey?

Yeah, I guess that's another thing. Somehow, the dough doesn't taste as sweet as the cookie. Had another bite of dough last night. I can't get enough of the stuff!

I'm mostly with #1, right out of the oven! I like dough because I don't like tough cookies, but if the cookies are chewy then I pick the cookie over the dough! What a loaded answer, ha.

i've only ever cooked them three times, so i can definitely resist the dough, and we buy them maybe 4 times a year. they are simply too sweet. it's the same problem i have with cup-cakes, muffins, donuts - way too sweet, so i very seldom eat them (it's been over 3 years since i ate a donut, two years for a cup-cake andalmost a year since i had a muffin)

Well, okay--I prefer most chocolate chip cookie recipes as dough, but the one I make that requires melted butter is better as cookies. The question might also be a toss-up if you introduce a glass of milk to the mix.

I can so rarely find a good soft, SUPER chewy cookie that I almost always prefer the dough!

I'm a big fan of doughs and batters. I don't know what it is about the raw stuff, but I love it. I also like slightly undercooked cookies and brownies. So I like crispy on the outside, rare on the inside chocolate chip cookies. It shouldn't be a surprise that I like my steak rare as well! That being said, I'll rarely turn down a cookie. Unless it's so overcooked that it's crispy. Then it's not worth the calories! :)
