As part of our Best of 2008 coverage, we asked you where you like to shop for kitchen supplies. Williams-Sonoma was the clear winner with 39 percent of the vote. YumSugar and I agree with you readers: we love Williams-Sonoma too! Not only does Williams-Sonoma have an amazing selection of quality kitchenware, but it also publishes must-read cookbooks. In November we were lucky enough to score the ultimate Thanksgiving giveaway thanks to our friends at Williams-Sonoma. The store recently launched a wine club that I look forward to checking out in 2009. What do you love about Williams-Sonoma?

Man! I soooooo disagree. There was a time when W-S was a store for serious cooks. And I still have favorite recipes saved from their early catalogues. But it's a loooooong time since W-S has been a store for cooks. I'd say with their $12 jars of $1.50 worth of kosher salt and herbs sold as turkey brine and all the other ridiculous things they sell that a cook could make better and cheaper they've staked out their place in the poseur market. ...and try to find a piece of real specialized equipment!

I wish they'd bring back Lechter's, that was a good store.

In my local shopping center, there is both William-Sonoma and an independent shop. The selection, prices, everything are lightyears better at the independent one. It's one of like2 independent shops left in the center, so I'm happy to support it.As far as chain stores go, though, I guess I'd have to agree with WS.

I love that if you buy an appliance there and it breaks, they take it back and give you another one with no hassels!! They run their business the way every store should - with the customer's needs first. And they've made $$ off of it because I don't want to buy my stuff anywhere else!
