My Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer just a couple of months ago and although she is doing well she gets tired easily so I decided that at the age of 34 I should probably learn to make Thanksgiving dinner so that is why I volunteered.

Ive been doing the WHOLE dinner for the family since I was 21. Third year now! I usually brine it then rub with compound butter.PS that photo is so un-cozy.

I am definitely in charge of the bird--Cornish hens this year, as there is just myself, my loving husband, and my mother-in-law. I loved it a few years ago when I fixed hens for the whole family (ten of us that day) and my then-4-year-old nephew announced, "Mom, I have my own little turkey!" I have been fixing "little turkeys" ever since.LOL

I am just in charge of cooking it the way the rest of the family wants it...different every year. We have found that using a brine makes the bird moister.

I am responsible for the all the food - I dont eat turkey, but supposedly I make a good one (i insist on my mother buying an all organic, local yada yada which helps). The rest of the meal is all vegetarian since there are a couple of us.

not quite sure. the past few years i've been in charge of the turkey with my mother guiding me through from her seat infront of the TV. i guess i'm doing it again this year while my sisters make the side dishes. Turkey and stuffing. My dishes as well as a dessert :)

i actually love to cook for thanksgiving, but the issue is that i don't eat turkey ...and this year it's going to be even more of a challenge. in the past few years, i've gone to my mom's house for the holiday - and my fiance has come too. my family knows that i'm a vegetarian and they are easily able to adapt for my needs. my fiance's family is from Texas and they are big meat eaters. (oh, i'm also Jewish so i keep kosher too). so not only do i not eat the pork and ham stuff, i don't eat any meat, and this will be a big challenge i think. they've always made me feel welcome in the past, so i'm sure that this will just be the same case this time around - but i'm very nervous about the turkey thing.

I get back to the States the day after Thanksgiving, but usually my mom prepares it or we head over to my poppa's house where my grandma Joan prepares it and everyone brings a side or dessert. I'm not big on the holiday, but I will miss being with my family on that day.

I've always cooked the turkey and complete dinner at my home at Thanksgiving. Our children and Grandchildren come over and they bring either a side dish and or a dessert. This year, my husband will most likely do the turkey, (with my guidance of course) while I prepare the other foods.

Nope, my sister is in charge of the main entree. I'm doing everything else -- appetizers, drinks, side dishes, dessert, etc.

I'm happy to be hosting Thanksgiving this year, I love making huge meals for loved ones! My mom will (as usual) have to stick her two cents in and make 37,000 side dishes to contribute! I wish for once she would just relax and let me do everything. With that said, its also nice to have someone bring some sides so I don't have to go too crazy cooking!

My momma wants us to go to my grandmother's this year, but I love doing holidays at my home. I'm still undecided with only a couple of weeks to go! Fortunately, I've started my holiday stockpile so if we stay home, I'll have everything I need for dinner. Going to the store the week of a major holiday is my definition of hell.
