The other day YumSugar and I were talking about how hard it is to be a patient cook. She was complaining about waiting for her popsicles to freeze, and I mentioned that I've frosted my fair share of uncooled cookies. How about you?
I am impatient too. I made a chiffon cake last time and need to be inverted to let it cool down. I can't wait after half an hour, and of course the cake sink back down and does not look too good. :(
Yes as a matter of fact I made an Ambrosia cake today and it was taking forever (it seemed) to cool so I popped it in the fridge to speed up the process. Since the recipe calls for cool whip it had to really be cooled before frosting. I hate waiting especially with cakes!
When I cook for myself I am not really impatient because I know what's coming & when... but when I go home... my dad takes FOREVER to cook us all dinner and starts doing so when I am so incredibly hungry.... this is when I get really impatient and just plain cranky!
I use to love to cook but the older I get the more impatient I become. I now look for the quick and easy recipes and even then I am impatient. Heck I have tried Rachel Rays 30 minute meal and I still do not know how she does because it takes me longer than that.
I don't think I've EVER allowed cupcakes or cookies to completely cool before I frost them, so the frosting always ended up melty and gross. I've started just sticking cupcakes straight into the freezer when they get out of the oven and leaving them there for a couple minutes while I tidy up/prepare frosting/whatever and then they're "cooled" enough to handle and frost!
Yes I am, but I hate sacrificing quality for it, so, while I am impatient i try to trick myself...I will take butter out to soften hours before i need it so i won't zap it in microwave, etc.
i love to take my time and cook, things always turn out better if I can take my time. But sometimes I'm in such a rush to get things done or the hard parts out of the way because my 2 year old is screaming for mommy.
Meh, I'm more of a lazy cook. I usually leave freshly baked cookies on the cooling rack for like an hour mainly because I'm too lazy/distracted to get up and get them. And usually, by the time I get to it, half of the batch is gone. (My Dad's a cookie monster)
