Are You a Late-Night Baker?

I've been known to bake when it's late, and I'm not alone. In a recent Washington Post story, writer Lisa Yockelson waxes poetic about the pleasures and perils of baking past your bedtime. Do you indulge your hobby in the wee hours?

I always want to cook late at night! Growing up, if I cooked ANYTHING after my mom went to bed, she'd wake up and grump at me. She said it made her sick in her sleep! But I ALWAYS wanted to bake!

Yes! And even while I finish my assignments. I actually ruined whole wheat apple muffins the other night, but I baked banana bread last night and it's perfectttttttttt. I hate baking in the morning, for some weird reason.

I do bake late at night, and I've got a burn scar on my stomach to prove it :P

No way, I have to get my sleep. I usually do my baking after dinner though. That way, I only have to clean up once!

Totally me, I love baking and cleaning in the middle of the night. Just last week I cleaned the whole house and made whole wheat pancakes from 1-4am...because I knew I would get to sleep in the next day.

I baked last night after dinner, probably started around 8:30 or so... but that's not really late night. I still went to bed at the normal time (10:30 - 11:00-ish). I don't usually bake later in the day, and definitely not past my bedtime.

I don't usually bake late at night. The latest is I've started baking is around 6 PM. Yesterday we did bake at night, but it was more of an experiment than anything, and it's never happened before and probably won't again.

i'm a late-night only baker. i start breads in the morning, and i don't like to let the dough refrigerate overnight, so i just bake them when they're done rising, usually 2-3AM. ...and who doesn't like a hot cupcake in the middle of the night?

This is me! In fact, one friday night I wasn't tired and decided to make a batch of chocolate syrup around 3a! (i know, not baking but just saying). And I usually start baking banana bread or cupcakes around 11p. It's relaxing to me.

Nope. I can not cook after 9 pm. It starts to get really stressful. Generally if I'm home, I like to go to bed early.

Oh my gosh that is so me. I just baked bannana muffins last night and enjoy baking when there are no interuptions and everyone is in bed. Didn't realize many people do this too.
