I agree with the article. I work full-time, attend a University at night and some weekends in order to complete a BS degree. I have a home (cleaning, doing the laundry, cooking, shopping, etc.), and a husband. I have maybe one weekend a month that I would be able to shop at the local farmers market. I have chosen to do the best that I can, which means cooking two meals on Sunday so that we can have home cooking at least two nights a week.

I eat 90% organic and cook from scratch - I am a single Mother and work full time 40+ - There is an easy way to do it if anyone is really interested. Here's the rules ( now I don't do local organic - I eat organic store) The rules of thumb - 1)stay away from prepackaged food - 2) shop for meats in HFS(Health Food Stores - or stores like Whole Foods) 3) pick 1 day to cook most of the meals your will eat and freeze them -normally I do this on a Sunday and will make 4/5 meals for the week 4) Fresh Produce should be bagged in individual servings - cut up the organic veggies etc 5) desserts can be made with organic ingredients also and frozen (DD LOVES Strawberries and whip cream or HM Organic Cookies using all organic ingredients) so while everyone thinks they can't do this they are wrong! Publix (I'm in Florida) now even carries an entire line of Organic Produce and meats.

While I mostly agree with the article, I think it's fair to say it's not just women who have to juggle their time and cooking duties. Also, I think it's easier for some than others. For example, I'm spoiled, the farmer's market is down the street - it's often more convenient to go there than to the grocery store. And this isn't just specific to San Francisco, I used to live somewhere else and there was a local farmer market at the high school every Wednesday night (summer only). The high school was 2 blocks from my house and the grocery store 5. However I do understand that I was extremely lucky and that not everyone has that option.

In some cases it takes more time, in others it doesnt. If youre on a raw diet, thats obviously pretty time-friendly.

I really liked that article/blog. I have the same conflict. I really appreciate that point of view, because it is extrememly difficult when you have kids, work full-time, and when farmer's market's or gardening on your own is not always possible.
