DKNY's Iconic New York Logo Mural to Make International Comeback

For almost 16 years, DKNY's black and white mural in New York's SoHo neighborhood was hailed as an iconic piece of the city's culture. This Summer, the brand will bring the concept back in living color, not only in New York but in thriving cities around the world.

DKNY has partnered with artists to bring outdoor art installations to London, Paris, Shanghai, Milan, Kuwait City, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Seoul. Although the installations — which may be in the form of 3D sculptures, billboards, projection media, or bus wraps — will be in different cities, each of them will feature the DKNY logo and an artistic expression of the New York City skyline. Despite the focus on NYC, each of the 10 artists in the project were selected based on their connection with the city in which their artwork will be featured.

"My favorite memory was when my daughter Lulu and my first husband, John Cale of The Velvet Underground, presented me with an invented CFDA award called The Tiniest Talent," she said Monday night, with Lulu standing right beside her. Johnson also talked about the ceremony where she met Yves Saint Laurent and why the CFDA Fashion Awards could use more comedy.

Fashion designers can be a tough crowd to please, but Kate Spade creative director Deborah Lloyd said she hopes the CFDA Awards get a bit more humorous in the future. "I loved [Seth Meyers wearing the] Marc Jacobs outfit from last year," she said of last year's host, who parodied Marc Jacobs by wearing the same sheer lace dress that the designer wore to the Met Gala. "That really made me laugh, and I thought he was such a sport about that, so I hope there’s a little bit more humor. Because we are a hard crowd to please, so a few laughs will be great."

For stylist Brad Goreski's part, the highlight of the night was Linda Evangelista. "She's presenting Tim Blanks with his award and she’s the be all and end all for me. I'm a child of the '90s."

We've said it before and we'll say it again: no one throws a party like the fashion industry. After last night's CFDA Awards, the industry gathered at a collection of afterparties that brought together designers, models, and celebrities alike.

Swarovski hosted an official afterparty at the Top of The Standard at New York's Standard hotel, where nearly everyone who walked the red carpet was spotted. Karlie Kloss blew kisses at the camera, while Prabal Gurung simply smooched his date, Candice Swanepoel, on the cheek.

Vera Wang celebrated her Lifetime Achievement Award with her own party, where she spent time with old friends like Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and Anna Wintour. And Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci celebrated his International Award with his friend Carine Roitfeld — who stars in and styled his latest campaign — along with Jessica Chastain, Kate Upton, and Kate Foley. Coco Rocha Now Moonlighting as a Tech Columnist

The endlessly multitalented Coco Rocha has added another line to her résumé with a stint as a columnist for a magazine. But it's not a fashion glossy she's writing for. Instead, Rocha has joined the team at PC Magazine.

"It might seem a little strange to have a high fashion model write for a technology magazine, but I'm actually the kind of girl who'd rather buy a new tablet over a new pair of heels any day of the week," Rocha wrote in a blog post explaining her new job. "Hopefully in my column for PCMag you'll see the ways I think the worlds of fashion and technology can and are coming together."

That intersection makes sense for Rocha, who's known for her social media prowess — she was the first model to break a million followers on Google+, and she's been a featured speaker at technology conferences like the Bespoke Luxury Summit in Sydney, Australia.

Rocha's first monthly column, published earlier this month, is about 3D printing and how it might change the fashion industry.

"What I'd like to see in 3D printing is an increased number of wearable materials," Rocha writes. "I know that we are right on the cusp of a serious revolution in the way we buy, sell, and manufacture clothing, and I think if the right industry leaders jump on these opportunities, this could be a golden time in fashion."

When you've written as many books as Martha Stewart has (she's up to a whopping 77 by her own count), finding ways to add something new can be a challenge. But at a recent round table hosted by Stewart to kick off the Macy's American Icon campaign, the doyenne of American entertaining told us that readers can still learn a lot from her cookbook Martha's American Food: A Celebration of Our Nation's Most Treasured Dishes, From Coast to Coast.

In it, Stewart gives a regional overview of what makes American food so special and includes recipes for everything from Indiana succotash to New York cheesecake. "American cooking is really an amalgamation of all the world's cuisines because we're the quintessential melting pot," she told us last week. "This book kind of incorporates by region what all those foods are."

Police in France are still on the hunt for the jewelry stolen from a Chopard employee's hotel room in Cannes last week, but there are plenty of other, much older fashion and jewelry thefts that still haven't been completely solved. Case in point: only a portion of the legendary raid at the Harry Winston store in Paris was ever found, and it doesn't appear that all of Marc Jacobs's stolen Spring 2012 samples were found.

But even though grand larceny, like all theft, is reprehensible, the motivation to steal things as gorgeous as Louis Vuitton's handbags and Chanel's jackets is understandable. Herein, a look at some of the most brazen, lucrative, and strange thefts in fashion.

Looks like Terry Richardson is just as comfortable in front of the camera as he is behind it.

Looks like Terry Richardson is just as comfortable in front of the camera as he is behind it. The photographer both shot and stars in Valentino's Fall 2013 accessories campaign.

In the images, which will debut in fashion magazines around the world starting today, Richardson's hands and tattooed forearms are seen holding the brand's Rockstud handbag and shoe — both in signature Valentino red. The house's co-creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri told WWD the images are supposed to evoke "the sensual yet elegant nature of our accessories, described as objects of desire."

While this is the first time Richardson has worked with Chiuri and her partner, Pierpaolo Piccioli, it's certainly not the first time he's appeared in one of his own campaigns. Last August, Richardson lensed an ad for jeweler David Webb that features both him and model Eniko Mihalik.

Punk: Chaos to Couture might be this year's most-celebrated fashion exhibit, but it's certainly not the only one on display. In fact, just this morning, Somerset House in London announced that later this year, it will feature an exhibit on the late Isabella Blow.

Elsewhere in the world, the Rhode Island School of Design in America is highlighting historical and contemporary dandies, and the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf is featuring a show on the legendary Azzedine Alaia. And even the Metropolitan Museum of Art has another fashion exhibit that focuses on clothing in impressionist art.

Riccardo Tisci's latest side project saw him designing sheer costumes for the Paris National Opera Ballet's production of Maurice Ravel's Boléro, which debuted at the Palais Garnier Thursday night.

Riccardo Tisci's latest side project saw him designing sheer costumes for the Paris National Opera Ballet's production of Maurice Ravel's Boléro, which debuted at the Palais Garnier Thursday night.

Tisci, creative director of Givenchy, explained in a statement about his designs that he "wanted the dancers to feel naked somehow," and added that the costumes express the same dark and romantic sensibility seen in his ready-to-wear collections.

"The dancers wear nude catsuits in illusion tulle embroidered with white lace forming a skeleton," he said. "They shed several layers as they dance just like the life cycle of animals or flowers losing their petals. They become these moving skeletons, strong and fragile at the same time."

Some of Spring's coolest accessories have gone to the dogs — and in the very best way — in Avenue32's latest editorial, Fashion Unleashed.

Like the adorable pomeranian in the Tous ads that came before them, these dogs look like expert models. Avenue32 tasked five dogs with sitting, sniffing, and moving around sunglasses, scarves, handbags, and one pair of cage heels from a variety of talented designers and brands. Phillip Lim's 31 Second Clutch makes an appearance alongside a curious British Bulldog named Papillon, and a Bedlington Terrier named Wilfred gets a shot of color with a silk scarf.
