Was Obama legally allowed to run for president?

What I don't get is if Obama has nothing to hide why doesn't he just show his birth certificate? What is the big deal? And not a computer generated one, the original, that is locked in whatever vault.

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6145787.html

Will Supreme Court take case on Obama's citizenship?
By JAMES JANEGA
CHICAGO — The U.S. Supreme Court will consider Friday whether to take up a lawsuit challenging President-elect Barack Obama's U.S. citizenship, a continuation of a New Jersey case embraced by some opponents of Obama's election.
The meeting of justices will coincide with a vigil by the filer's supporters in Washington on the steps of the nation's highest court.
The suit originally sought to stay the election, and was filed on behalf of Leo Donofrio against New Jersey Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells.
Legal experts say the appeal has little chance of succeeding, despite appearing on the court's schedule. Legal records show it is only the tip of an iceberg of nationwide efforts seeking to derail Obama's election over accusations that he either wasn't born a U.S. citizen or that he later renounced his citizenship in Indonesia.
The Obama campaign has maintained that he was born in Hawaii, has an authentic birth certificate, and is a "natural-born" U.S. citizen. Hawaiian officials agree.
Among those filing lawsuits is Alan Keyes, who lost to Obama in the 2004 Illinois Senate race. Keyes' suit seeks to halt certification of votes in California. Another suit by a Kentucky man seeks to have a federal judge review Obama's original birth certificate, which Hawaiian officials say is locked in a state vault.
Other suits have been filed by Andy Martin, whose case was dismissed in Hawaii, and by an Ohio man whose case also was dismissed. Five more suits, all later dismissed, were filed in Hawaii by a person who is currently suing the "Peoples Association of Human, Animals Conceived God/s and Religions, John McCain (and) USA Govt." The plaintiff previously sought to sue Wikipedia and "All News Media."
The most famous case questioning Obama's citizenship was filed in Pennsylvania in August on behalf of Philip J. Berg and sought to enjoin the Democratic National Committee from nominating Obama. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to accept the case. Earlier, a federal judge rejected it for "lack of standing" — ruling that Berg had no legal right to sue. In cases like this, judges sometimes believe the matter is best left to political institutions, such as the Electoral College or Congress, said legal scholar Eugene Volokh of the University of California at Los Angeles.
The remaining case with the highest profile is Donofrio vs. Wells. Because it was distributed by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to other justices for conference, it gained undue importance for people unschooled in how the court works, Volokh said.
Many petitioners seeking stays of pending events have their cases distributed to the full court, he said. Of those, Volokh found that 782 were denied in the last eight years while just 60 were heard — and not all of those ultimately were successful.

Subject: Fort Worth woman fondled by man posing as police officer

By DEANNA BOYD

FORT WORTH — Police are cautioning female motorists to be on alert after a 21-year-old woman reported that a man posing as an officer fondled her after pulling her over in southwest Fort Worth on Tuesday night.

The woman told police she was driving over the U.S. 183 bridge near the Interstate 20 split around 9:44 p.m. when she noticed a spotlight shining into her car. She believed that an officer was pulling her over. She told police the vehicle had blue strobe lights on its dash, according to a police report.

She described the man who approached her car as Hispanic and about 5 feet 8 inches with a black goatee. She said he wore what appeared to be a black uniform and a black baseball cap, and had a holstered gun.

The woman said he ordered her to place her hands on the hood, then grabbed her breasts and buttocks over her clothing.

This is an article from realitychex.wordpress.com Gretchen's fiance passed away in September? This is really sad. I had no idea.

In “better late than never news,” the newest member of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Orange County” has lost her fiancee, Jeffrey Beitzel, to leukemia. Gretchen Rossi, who is thirty-years-old, attended the funeral services for her late fiancee on September 13. Beitzel was 54-years-old. He is survived by Rossi and his four children.

Three Words: Live Puppy Cam

If you like puppies, have a regular Internet connection, and poor time management skills, I suggest you back away from the live puppy cam and don't look back.

Grab coffee with a friend. Read a book. Go back to work. But do not enter this infernal portal of cute if you know what's good for you.

The first few times you're all, huh, I wonder what the pups are up to? Usually, they're in two modes. Sleepy, or rambunctious. Pay particular attention to the trouble-maker with the green collar. He's the one, invariably, who is stepping on some other oblivious pup's head or trying to incite a puppy riot. (I have my eye on you, mister.)

They look innocent, those pups. But crack cocaine probably looked innocent the first time some dumbass decided to smoke it. Yes, an extreme analogy, but when you find yourself, every hour, on the hour, needing some live pup-on-pup action, just because...you'll know you're doomed.

Just don't come runnin' to me. I warned you.

Giggle

*Because I usually don't like romantic movies all that much. I'm more of a "guns and wirework" kind of gal.
3. Love Actually (How can Hugh Grant be such a jackass in real life and soooo damn adorable onscreen? He's in this movie and the two above it. And Rodrigo Santoro... )

My illustrated obsession with jewelry, female adornment and Khampas

Hi all! It's my first post here - lovely to meet you all!

You can either go on reading my blog post - or just go to the website which I've made, here:
http://sites.google.com/site/khampacolours/

or scroll down to see some amazing pictures!

I seem to have written quite a long post - please let me start by saying - thanks for reading this! This is a subject that somewhat strangely, I haven't really told anyone in my life about before. To some of you reading it will seem silly, and it probably is, but maybe there are other silly people out there like me, who enjoy!
I decided recently that I need to share this obsession (the reason I say obsession, is simply because over the years I've spent hundreds of hours web searching, reading, and imagining about it!) at least communicate it to someone somewhere somehow. So, as the title said my obsession is roughly speaking with jewelry, but more specifically with women illustriously adorned with jewelry, and recently with my discovery of the Khampa people!

As I said, although I actually hardly wear any jewelry, since childhood I was about 5, I've often been fascinated with the possibility of how far a person can be elegantly adorned with jewels - in my teenage years I started to spend hours on ebay searching for the most gorgeous jewels, then imagining how they would all look together, if money was no object, how I'd love to see someone decorated all over with the lush jewels.

Then, from random image searching, I chanced upon a some pictures of an ethnic group of Tibetans called the Khampas, and I got to see whether or not it would be beautiful if women were to be decorated in the way I imagined. And the answer for me, is yes!

For, Khampas costumes, ornamentation and jewelry, for very pratical reasons, are an essential part of their lives and culture. Khampas - living in the Himalayas - have to pick up and move home with every change of season because of the falling and thawing of snows. Rich Khampas have for centuries needed to invest in gold and precious stones to store their wealth - simply because it's themost portable form of wealth! So Khampas for centuries have invested all they have into jewelry.

Because the costumes and jewels that a family own have often been passed down for generations within the family - often for centuries - Khampas place much pride and meaning in the ornaments. On festival days (all of these photos are taken at annual costume festivals) Khampas wear all of their family's wealth, and the sight is quite astonishing.

These costumes can cost millions of dollars. Please look at the website I made for more info, but the costume in the 2 photos immediately are worth US$1.5million, as explained in a newspaper article which I link to on the site.

I am always taken aback by the beauty of the costumes, then as I found out more, it was quite breathtaking to just how much value - both monetary value, and sentimental value - the ornaments that you see here have. Where you see gold, is basically gold, often near 24 carat. I find it amazing to see women decorated with such splendor, and have spent so many hours searching for these photos. Only because I can read a bit Chinese (I'm british, but lived in Japan and learnt Japanese, which helps me read a bit of Chinese) have I managed to find nearly 1000 photos now, although I've searched for hours and hours!

As I keep saying, it's an obsession... and I know it. I don't know why, having discovered beautiful women being decorated from head to toe in jewels just does it for me - when I find new pictures it gives me a rush of awe and wonder. But I search for hours, using chinese, a language I barely understand, because I crave to see more amazing pictures. Since I found out that the whole costumes were worth millions, that just a single ring on some of these girls fingers are worth as much as much as my car, that a single one of their many neclaces they wear is worth as much as my house, my wonderment has deepened, and I realized how I wanted to share my wonderment with others. Please leave a comment with whatever you think, whether you think this sucks, I suck, or whether you share my feeling of beauty and awe at this incredible adornment! I'd love to hear from you, the whole reason I've written all this is because I want to share with other people and hear what they think, even if its the case that this is a weird obsession.

Also, if you like, please go look at the site I made recently about Khampas, there's many more pictures on there. It's here:

http://sites.google.com/site/khampacolours/

love

12 Days of Sharing (Question 1)

We do this every year at my work for the holidays...I thought it would be fun to do here on Sugar too. For 12 days, I'll ask a different question surrounding the holidays. It's just a fun way to find out a little bit of obscure info about each other.

1. What is your favorite Christmas decoration?

Holly leaves and berries

I made this cake for a former co-worker of mine for a small party she was having. The cake was carrot cake with cream cheese buttercream filling and icing. I got really frustrated with this cake because the first actual "cake" part that I made completed crumbled apart when I was taking it out of the pan for whatever reason, so I had to make it again.
So, by the time I had finished baking and cooling the second cake, it was getting late and I was tired. I should have just let it cool in the fridge overnight, but I made the big mistake of going ahead and filling it and putting on the crumbcoat layer of icing. Of course it wasn't cool enough and the icing started to melt a little. Double So I just left it alone because I knew I would just frustrate myself even further if I tried to do anything else to it that night, and I put it in the fridge.
When I got up in the morning, the whole cake had sort of shifted crookedly, and I did the best I could with icing to repair the cake and make it as straight as I possibly could. I finished the whole cake with red rosettes at the top and bottom of the cake, and I freehanded a couple of holly leaves and berries and some scrolls on the top of the cake. I finished it all up with a sprinkle of edible glitter, and I think it turned out alright after all the stress it caused me! Please pardon my messy counter, I thrive in an environment of disrepair, apparently!!
