Walnuts are a great ingredient to pair with cheese, greens, and fruit. They are also an important component in the classic salad pictured below. This salad is one that combines crunchy apples, walnuts and crisp celery with a creamy dressing. Do you know what it's called?

Fall Side: Pear Salad

I recently opened my front door to find my neighbor standing there with a bag of fresh pears.

I recently opened my front door to find my neighbor standing there with a bag of fresh pears. Little did I know that she was a cooking instructor at Sur La Table and that the pears were leftover from a recent class. I immediately thought of delicate poached dessert pears, but when I came across this recipe for a savory side salad with poached pears, I decided to go with it instead. Pair this salad — that also features goat cheese and macadamia nuts — with a creamy gnocchi, meaty lasagna, or baked casserole. This is a salad that you will enjoy well into winter, so get the recipe now, just read more

DinoBite Bottle Opener: Love It Or Hate It?

I'm not really into reptiles.

I'm not really into reptiles. I never understood why my best girlfriend in college had a huge lizard as a pet. However, when I saw this dinobite bottle opener, any disgust I formerly held for the creepy crawly creatures completely disintegrated. I love this open mouthed dinosaur shaped bottle opener. The solid bronze beast would look great resting on a sleek bar. Am I the only one who thinks it's quite cute, or do you love it too?
