I recently opened my front door to find my neighbor standing there with a bag of fresh pears. Little did I know that she was a cooking instructor at Sur La Table and that the pears were leftover from a recent class. I immediately thought of delicate poached dessert pears, but when I came across this recipe for a savory side salad with poached pears, I decided to go with it instead. Pair this salad — that also features goat cheese and macadamia nuts — with a creamy gnocchi, meaty lasagna, or baked casserole. This is a salad that you will enjoy well into winter, so get the recipe now, just read more
I try not to buy boxes of pre-made cookies, but somehow always cave during Girl Scout Cookie season. The Thin Mint cookie has a perfect combo of chocolate and mint that gets me every time. Sadly, Girl Scout cookie season only happens once a year, and we've got several months before they're back. However, if you can't wait until spring, I got my hands on a recipe in order to make your own.

I'm not really into reptiles. I never understood why my best girlfriend in college had a huge lizard as a pet. However, when I saw this dinobite bottle opener, any disgust I formerly held for the creepy crawly creatures completely disintegrated. I love this open mouthed dinosaur shaped bottle opener. The solid bronze beast would look great resting on a sleek bar. Am I the only one who thinks it's quite cute, or do you love it too?
