Name That Dish!

The other day I discussed how I have yet to master making my favorite Italian dessert, tiramisu.
The other day I discussed how I have yet to master making my favorite Italian dessert, tiramisu. Another Italian dish that I love to order at restaurants, but am afraid to make at home is pictured below. Do you know what it's called?

Thanksgiving Tip: Prep Your Fridge

Thanksgiving is a little early this year; in fact, it's only three weeks away!

Thanksgiving is a little early this year; in fact, it's only three weeks away! To help you get prepped, we will have loads of Thanksgiving ideas and menus as well as a ton of tips.

The first tip is super simple but is still worth bringing up. A few days before your big feast, you should clean out your fridge. Now before you start rolling your eyes at how silly it seems, think about how sorry you'll be if you don't. If your fridge is a mess, you'll end up wasting time rearranging and sorting when you could be cooking or mingling with your guests instead. So clean out the fridge ahead of time and make room for the turkey, cranberry sauce and any other fixings you plan on serving up.

Yum Market Finds: Crazy For Coffee

I'm one of those people who doesn't officially start their day until I get a morning cup of coffee.

I'm one of those people who doesn't officially start their day until I get a morning cup of coffee. Judging by the amount of coffee paraphernalia in the Yum Market, I'd say plenty of you are crazy for coffee as well. I don't have an espresso machine or coffee maker, so this pink thermos would be wonderful for me. I'll get my coffee to go in this chic, reusable, good for the environment container that mellie_608 bookmarked. For more coffee accessories, check out the stuff below.

Come Party With Me: My First Thanksgiving — Drinks

Since this is your first Thanksgiving, don't go overboard offering guests an open bar.

Since this is your first Thanksgiving, don't go overboard offering guests an open bar. Instead, serve beer, wine, champagne, and one specialty cocktail. A few weeks before the dinner, head to your local wine shop or Trader Joe's. Talk with the owner or the store's sommelier. Explain that you are hosting your first Thanksgiving and want a couple of bottles of wine for dinner. Tell him how many people will be in attendance and what you are serving. Zinfandel and Beaujolais pair wonderfully with turkey and a good bottle of bubbly makes for a festive cocktail with appetizers. If you prefer to pour white wine serve a Chenin Blanc, Riesling, or Gewurtraminer.

Have lots of sparkling and still water on hand, and be sure to set water glasses on the table. If you know your dad only drinks Tanqueray and tonic, tell him to bring his own supplies. Otherwise offer guests a dark and stormy to sip while they wait for the turkey to cook. Get the recipe to this classic cocktail, just read more

Bogs Across America

Of all the weird documentaries I was subjected to as a child, there is one that always comes to mind.

Of all the weird documentaries I was subjected to as a child, there is one that always comes to mind. I was in the third grade, and the documentary was about cranberry bogs, the marshy beds where cranberries grow. The way the shiny, ruby-colored berries were harvested by flooding the bogs fascinated me; it's an image that's floated around in my brain ever since.

So when I heard that Ocean Spray is creating a Bogs Across America tour by transforming public spaces into cranberry bogs, I was immediately excited. Unfortunately, none of the public bogs are near me, but if you live in New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles, then be sure to stop by. And if you do, be sure to snap a photo and share it with the rest of us!

  • Chicago’s Tribune Tower’s Pioneer Court: Nov. 7-9, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Los Angeles’ Hollywood & Highland Center: Nov. 15-17, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Fast & Easy Dinner: Southwestern Pumpkin Burgers

I'm not much of a burger fan, but these deconstructed pumpkin burgers look totally delicious.

I'm not much of a burger fan, but these deconstructed pumpkin burgers look totally delicious. Pumpkin puree is mixed with sautéed onions, peppers, and corn for a mixture that is healthy and filling. The classic hamburger bun is replaced with a flour tortilla that gives this meal a scrumptious Southwestern flavor. Topped with crisp lettuce and chunky tomato salsa, these burgers make a delicious dinner for an impromptu party. Pair with a cool guacamole and crunchy chips and call it a meal!
