2007's Favorite Foodie Show Is . .

As part of our Best of 2007 coverage, we asked you to name your favorite (noncooking or nonreality) food TV show.

As part of our Best of 2007 coverage, we asked you to name your favorite (noncooking or nonreality) food TV show. The majority of you — 26 percent — felt that Duff and the gang over at Ace of Cakes should have walked away the victor. However I'm going to have to go with the second-place winner, No Reservations. Perhaps it's my I'll-eat-anything-once spirit, but I love the way Bourdain travels the globe in search of the best eats. Yes, he does have that snarky demeanor, but he manages to do it humbly and is always the most gracious guest. Whether he's drinking pints in Ireland or sharing meals with school children in Ghana, Bourdain offers a wonderful snapshot of the world, one meal at a time.

Would You Eat This Paté?

I've found us the perfect item for a special holiday edition of Would You Eat This.

I've found us the perfect item for a special holiday edition of Would You Eat This. You may have heard of duck or goose paté, but how about reindeer paté? It's a paté made from cuts of Swedish Artic Reindeer meat, cognac and spices. It's supposed to go great on buttered toast with a glass of brandy. It makes me sad to think I'd be munching down on Dancer, Prancer or one of Santa's other reindeer, however it probably wouldn't stop me from trying it. How about you guys, would you give it a try?

Here's the scenario: You are at home and hungry for food. You have to cook up something scrumptious for you and your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse/child/friend, but the ingredients you have on hand are limited.

You have a jar of sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil, frozen puff-pastry dough, and pesto. Using these products, along with whatever you currently have on hand in your cupboard and refrigerator, what would you make?

52 Weeks of Baking: Mocha-Cappuccino Marbled Coffee Cake

This week, with all of the gingerbread and holiday baking, I thought it would be nice to make a simple cake to pair with coffee.

This week, with all of the gingerbread and holiday baking, I thought it would be nice to make a simple cake to pair with coffee. Many folks have friends and family staying at their house this season and a coffee cake is something that whips up quickly and is perfect to have on hand. It works as a simple breakfast, and is delightful with an afternoon cup of tea. This particular recipe is a coffee-chocolate swirl, although I thought the coffee flavor could be heightened. The crumb is nice and moist, but be careful, there's a small window between perfect and overdone. To get the recipe, read more
