Yum Market Finds: Beautiful Colorful Glasses

Just as we fill our closets with shoes and handbags for each and every occasion we should fill our cabinets with the perfect glasses for each and every drink.

Just as we fill our closets with shoes and handbags for each and every occasion we should fill our cabinets with the perfect glasses for each and every drink. Every time I show up with a new box of glasses it drives my father a little more crazy. After seeing Marie Antoinette I ran out in search of fabulous dainty little champagne glasses. We already have champagne glasses my dad grumbled. My response: we have champagne flutes and these are champagne saucers. As I was looking through the Yum Market, I realized that you recognize the importance of having a variety of glasses in all shapes and sizes. Here are a few of my favorite finds (that you found!):

almost famous found these gorgeous little brocade glasses. She says she is going to use them for decoration in her apartment or to pot tiny flowers (great idea!) but I would serve super hot tea or really cold beer in these glasses like they do in Spain.

The Ultimate Kitchen: Kitchen Spoons

If you ask any home cook what her favorite kitchen utensil is, I guarantee that at least half of them (if not more) will say her wooden spoon.

If you ask any home cook what her favorite kitchen utensil is, I guarantee that at least half of them (if not more) will say her wooden spoon. A great kitchen spoon is a must have. Without one there is no tasting of broth, no mixing of cookies, none of that. When choosing a kitchen spoon, you want to make sure you pick one that is made from quality materials, if it's wooden, it shouldn't splinter and if it's plastic, it shouldn't melt. You also want to make sure that the spoon you choose is the correct length and size.

To get around the length problem, you might consider a set of 3 wooden spoons. These spoons are made from a French cherry hard wood with a closed grain and come in three different sizes. The sizes, which are 12", 14" and 16", are perfect for stirring items in a tall stock pot, or in a 1" frying pan. Set of three available for $17.50.

If you're more into fashion than form, you might be interested in the Happy and Cheeky spoon set. Available in several different colors (including orange, blue, red and green), these melamine spoons are sure to liven up the kitchen. I don't know how you couldn't smile at this dishwasher safe pair. Set of two for $10.00.

Asian-Inspired Side: Red Curry Noodles

One of the traditions that the Chinese follow on Lunar New Year is to eat noodles because they symbolize longevity in life.

One of the traditions that the Chinese follow on Lunar New Year is to eat noodles because they symbolize longevity in life. I love a good superstitious tradition and will be consuming noodles within the next fifteen days in an attempt to prolong my life. You can too if you make this vegetarian side dish to serve during your Asian inspired feast. These noodles work great when paired with fish or as a small first course before a heartier beef and rice dish. Although it's not picnic season, I like to pack Asian noodle dishes to serve at my picnics. The noodles travel well, pair perfectly with a salmon salad sandwich, and are a pleasant surprise to your guests who will be expecting potato salad. Whether you make it today or save it for later, this recipe is worth adding to your collection so read more
