52 Weeks of Baking: Peanut Butter Cookies

Since today is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day, I figured I'd go ahead and whip up a batch for myself.

Since today is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day, I figured I'd go ahead and whip up a batch for myself. I thought about making a traditional peanut butter cookie, but I don't really know how to leave a good thing alone and decided that it needed some tweaking. After all, everything tastes better when Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are involved, right? Right! So I headed to the kitchen and made a cookie concoction. Charity

PartySugar Behind The Bash: Wine.Dine.Donate

Coinciding with National Hunger Awareness day, Epicurious (the website for Bon Appetit & Gourmet magazines) hosted five charity dinners in five different cities.

Coinciding with National Hunger Awareness day, Epicurious (the website for Bon Appetit & Gourmet magazines) hosted five charity dinners in five different cities. I was lucky enough to get an invitation to the San Francisco dinner at Farallon restaurant Friday night. All of the money raised from the event went to an amazing organization, America's Second Harvest, a food bank network that provides food to low income people in the United States. Oftentimes the fact that there are more than 9 million hungry children here in our country gets overlooked, so it was wonderful to be a part of such an important charity event. The coolest thing about wine.dine.donate is that even if you can't attend the big city event, you can hold a dinner party at your home to support the cause. I'm thinking about turning my next dinner party into a soirée that benefits the cause, but until then I'll be dreaming about the delectable dishes I ate the other night. The dinner was absolutely delicious, the deconstructed fried soft shell crab BLT, the fresh oysters, and the crispy veal breast with soft boiled egg and polenta were my favorite dishes. Just writing it makes my mouth water!

Hell's Kitchen - 3.2 Recap

On this week's episode of Hell's Kitchen, the heat was turned up as the contestants were once again taught the importance of masterfully learning basic culinary skills.

On this week's episode of Hell's Kitchen, the heat was turned up as the contestants were once again taught the importance of masterfully learning basic culinary skills. Last week it was all about frying the perfect egg and this week it was all about prepping fish. The show started off with the girls in turmoil from the recent elimination of team member Tiffani, and the boys united in their concern for the weakest link in their team, Aaron. Both teams are woken before 6am to "go catch fish." Excitement quickly melts into annoyance as Ramsay's cronies throw whole, frozen fish at the wannabe chefs from a truck. To see what happens when things turn a little fishy in Hell's Kitchen, including my fav Ramsay quotes of the week, read more

Wine

Definition: Ice Wine

Ice Wine A type of dessert wine that is made with frozen grapes.

Ice Wine
A type of dessert wine that is made with frozen grapes. The grapes are picked and pressed when frozen and only the grape juice is used in the wine making process. The majority of the water is frozen so the pressed grape juice is highly concentrated resulting in a very sweet wine. Since they have consistent cold weather, the best ice wines come from Germany, Austria, and Canada.

Come Party With Me: Father's Day - Menu I

For Father's Day, I'm off to the races with my dad and a bunch of our buddies.

For Father's Day, I'm off to the races with my dad and a bunch of our buddies. My dad's a great guy who loves no fuss classic recipes, so this philosophy will inspire the menu. Usually I would have him pack his mini grill for some picnic grilling, but since this is a Father's Day celebration I don't want him to have to lift a finger. I'll make picnic food ahead of time so I can sit back, relax, and watch the cars race by. Sandwiches are the quintessential picnic food and I'll be making two kinds. A French style tuna sandwich called pan bagnat - that only gets better if assembled the night before - will pair perfectly with chilled white wine. Buffalo chicken sandwiches with a creamy blue cheese dressing and crisp lettuce will be the beer friendly sandwich option. To get these tasty recipes all you have to do is read more
