Like carrots, zucchinis make a healthy addition to sweet dishes like cookies and cakes. The zucchini adds much needed vitamins and fiber, but don't distract from the chewiness of the cookie. The next time you want to surprise kids with a batch of homemade cookies — in their lunch or after school —make these cookies. The chocolate chips, raisins, and flaked coconut will completely distract them from the zucchini. To make a batch of these moist and tasty cookies for your family today, read more

Folks Are Buzzing Over These Rice Crackers
I am imagining an odd conversation that goes like this:
So what does your grandpa do for a living? Is he retired?
No, he's a wasp hunter.
A what?
A wasp hunter. He hunts wasps in Omachi, Japan. They're used in rice crackers.
Rice crackers?!?
The thing is, this conversation could actually happen. In Omachi, Japan — 120 miles northwest of Tokyo — rice cracker makers have created a new product by adding wasps to the recipe. The wasps are hunted by elderly folks from the village and are caught in nearby forests. But before they are put into crackers, they are boiled, dried and then added to the mix.

Yummy Link: Baby Sock Cupcakes
I was pretty sure little chocolate pea pods were the cutest baby shower gift ever. However, these baby socks in the shape of cupcakes might just — wait for it — take the cake. - Moochie Moo via Cupcakes Take The Cake

Off To Market Recap: Adult Lunchbox
Last week I told you about how my little sister, Trish, recently began her first job after graduating from college. When she was in college she would meet her girlfriends for lunch, or snack on food at home between classes. Now that she is in the working world she has a lunch break for which she packs a lunch. Being super enviornmental and eco-conscious, she does not want to pack it in a brown paper bag. So I asked you to help her by finding a fun, cool adult lunchbox. You bookmarked your finds in the Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag Adult Lunchbox.
I loved some of the bento-inspired boxes, like the ones found by piraterie and tdamji. However, I think my sister might prefer these stylish neoprene totes that were found by both gruaig_rua and mellie_608. They're modern and sophisticated, and will help her make the transition from college casual to office chic. If she doesn't agree, there are a lot of other items to choose from. You guys really did a great job, be sure to scroll through and see what everyone found!

Want Fries With That Hot Dog Cake?
When I found out that today is Hot Dog Day, I knew I had to share this fun creation. It really takes "semi-homemade" and pushes it to the next level, everything can be bought, but the end result is completely unique. The Hot Dog and Fries Cake is a completely edible, ridiculously sweet cake shaped to look like a hot dog in a bun and french fries. All you need is a loaf cake, a few Twinkies, red frosting, yellow icing, red icing and some green fruit. If you'd rather not use Twinkies, substitute with different kind of cake in the center. Either way, your little ones — and big ones too — are going to love this treat.

Small Talk with Ilan Hall
Last week our very own FabSugar had the opportunity to chat with Top Chef Season Two winner, Ilan Hall. They were both backstage at the Cynthia Rowley Spring 2008 show — Fab reporting on the looks, and Ilan feeding the masses. Luckily for us, they were both able to take a few minutes from their jobs and provide us with a fun interview.
FabSugar: What did you have for breakfast?
Ilan Hall: I think I had baked chicken skin.
FS: Baked chicken skin?
IH: Yeah, because it's part of one of the dishes, and so I was just tasting it. That's what I got full on.
FS: Any juice or coffee?
IH: I had coffee, lots of coffee.
FS: A successful party is ....
IH: One that you get woken up from on the floor... I don't know.
FS: What's your guilty pleasure food?
IH: Pork skin.
FS: All of the skins!
IH: I know, I know, I've got a fetish.

Mario's Sticking with Food Network?
Looks like either the New York Post (and thus the rest of the food world and ABC News) was fed some false information, or Food Network has had a change of heart.
The folks at Edible TV and Newsday are both reporting that Mario's departure from Food Network was just a hot rumor.
"Mario is very much a part of Food Network" said Mark O'Connor, the network's vice president of public relations. "He is continuing to do a couple of episodes of 'Iron Chef America.'" O'Connor conceded that neither "Molto Mario" nor "Ciao America with Mario Batali" were in production but noted that the former program "still airs in repeats."
Mario's assistant and media maven, Pamela Lewy, has also confirmed that Mario is still with Food Network and that he is currently taping the next season of Iron Chef America. She also does not understand why the NY Post created the story.
Another Food Network source has also said that along with the new ICA episodes, Mario will also continue to film specials with the network.
I'm not totally sure what to make of it all, but I'm guessing it's stuff like this that makes Mario hate bloggers...

Monday's Leftovers: Garlic-Rosemary Lamb Pita
If you have any of yesterday's delicious lamb leftover, then dinner is going to be a real snap. These lamb pita pockets come together super easily, especially if you're using already cooked meat. And if you don't have any leftover lamb, don't fret, I've found a great recipe that won't take up much time at all. Plus, the refreshing mix of yogurt and cucumbers will be the perfect way to start the week. Check out the recipes, read more
