Well the Recipe Said Eight Cups . . .

This past Sunday, the Entrée Section of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel printed a recipe for Stuffed Chicken.

This past Sunday, the Entrée Section of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel printed a recipe for Stuffed Chicken. However, instead of calling for 1/8 of a cup, the paper accidentally printed eight cups. I can't imagine making a recipe with eight cups of onions, but I'm sure that some new cooks might have done it.

How about you? Would you have fallen for the eight-cup disaster? Also, have you ever fallen victim to a recipe error, or misread a recipe? Share your tales in the comments below!

TV Dinners: Amélie — Crème Brûlée

When PartySugar told me she was planning a movie night party based around French films, I was thrilled to see what she came up with.

When PartySugar told me she was planning a movie night party based around French films, I was thrilled to see what she came up with. She's put together an amazing meal consisting of bacon-wrapped chicken breasts, French martinis, and chocolate soufflés, but there's one little thing she's forgotten: the crème brûlée! Whenever I see the film Amélie, the scene where she cracks the crème brûlée gets me every time. It's such an amazing sound and the scene is so adorable.

To enjoy the sound in your own home, print out the recipe for a delicious ginger-vanilla crème brûlée. Or satiate your sound craving with a video clip of Amélie enjoying one. You can get both of those things when you read more

Float Into Summer With A&W Floats

What if I told you that you could have a hassle-free root beer float anytime you wanted?

What if I told you that you could have a hassle-free root beer float anytime you wanted? Well, thanks to the folks at A&W, you can! They recently announced a new line of drinks — A&W and Sunkist Floats ($1.79 each/$5.99 for four) — that promises to deliver a real float experience without all the fuss. Personally, I like the fuss associated with floats. Getting ice cream stuck in your straw is part of the fun! Yet, I can see where some people might like to indulge without the hassle. According to Andrew Springate, vice president of marketing at A&W, they have been trying to create this drink for quite some time. When asked about it, he said:

For years, beverage makers have tried to crack the code and develop an indulgent drink that tastes like a homemade float. The A&W and Sunkist Floats are indulgent treats like nothing consumers have experienced before; one pour and your taste buds will be amazed — no work, no hassle.

I haven't seen them at any of my local stores, but they should be hitting the market shortly. When they do, will you be picking one up?

Come Party With Me Movie Night — Drinks

Deciding what drinks to serve at my French-themed Movie Night was surprisingly trés facile!

Deciding what drinks to serve at my French-themed Movie Night was surprisingly trés facile! Besides sparkling and still water, I'll pour one signature cocktail and offer guests a tasting of French wines.

A French martini, made with pineapple juice and chambord, will be served with the baked brie appetizer.

A rich, buttery Chardonnay pairs nicely with the shrimp bisque. With the bacon-wrapped chicken breasts pour a lighter, fruity red like a Pinot Noir. After the movie, finish the night with a glass of champagne and the chocolate soufflé.

Vanilla beans can be quite expensive, but if you're going to use them, make sure it's on something you're going to love.

Vanilla beans can be quite expensive, but if you're going to use them, make sure it's on something you're going to love. This is the strategy that TeamSugar member holleighz went with when she created her vanilla bean cupcakes. Personally I love vanilla bean cupcakes. Going on the Lamb

I'm not sure when it happened, but lamb has become one of my favorite meats to eat.

I'm not sure when it happened, but lamb has become one of my favorite meats to eat. I used to be weird about it, thinking it was far too gamy. However, I realized I was wrong. When prepared correctly, lamb can be absolutely delicious and positively tasty.

I've had this recipe for Cardamom-Scented Lamb With Mashed Sweet Potatoes in my to-make file for quite some time, and last night I finally got around to making it. It takes a little bit more time than a Fast & Easy Dinner, but if you're willing, it can definitely be accomplished on a school night. The meat is seared then finished in the oven, and the whole thing is served with a red-wine sauce. To get the recipe, read more

Easy Last Minute Party Decor: Balloon Ceiling

Although they are usually associated with children's birthday parties, balloons can be a chic enhancement to your event's atmosphere.

Although they are usually associated with children's birthday parties, balloons can be a chic enhancement to your event's atmosphere. Large quantities can be purchased at minimal prices, making them a simple and affordable decor idea. They come in every color imaginable and in a variety of different textures, allowing them to fit into any theme. Attach to chairs, fences, banisters, or tape to walls in interesting arrangements. My favorite way to decorate with balloons is to cover the entire ceiling with stringless globes.

What do you think about balloons as party decor? Are they old fashioned or stylish?
