Yesterday, YumSugar reminded us that while citrus is available year round, it is actually in season now. To take advantage of fresh citrus, you could make the special-occasion duck dish pictured below. Do you know what it's called?

What's the BFD at Domino's?

What are your favorite pizza toppings?

What are your favorite pizza toppings? Personally, I'm all about cheese, cheese, and more cheese. However I do know that there are quite a few of you who love to go crazy with your pizza toppings. If you are one of those folks then you will be interested to hear about the new $10.99 deal at Domino's. Say what you will about the quality of their pies, but $10.99 for a large, unlimited-topping pizza is a pretty good deal. Actually I should have said fantastic deal, as the campaign is actually called the Big Fantastic Deal, or BFD for short.

To celebrate their new deal, the folks at Domino's are actually doing a BFD Builder Contest and asking you to create your dream BFD pizza. The most creative — determined by a panel of Domino's employees — will receive $500 in Domino's gift certificates, and bragging rights that will surely impress friends. At least, it would impress me, and that stands for something right?

So tell me, what kind of pie would you make?

Come Party With Me: Snow Picnic — Drinks

Since the snow picnic is a lunch, a signature cocktail is not necessary.

Since the snow picnic is a lunch, a signature cocktail is not necessary. Instead offer guests beer, water, and wine. Place beer directly in the snow to keep it icy cold and serve the wine in plastic glasses. An Italian Chianti pairs nicely with the soup, salad, and sandwiches, while a buttery California Chardonnay is a nice white option. I plan on making a birthday toast with a bottle of bubbly during dessert.

After the snowball fight, invite guests back to your house for a glass of hot cocoa. Set up a hot chocolate bar before you leave for the picnic. Allow guests to stir in their own hot chocolate accompaniments. To check out the hot chocolate bar recipe, read more

If you've ever dreamed of eating cupcakes the size of your face, then you are in luck.

If you've ever dreamed of eating cupcakes the size of your face, then you are in luck. The folks at The Knife tipped us off to the jumbo cupcakes at Beverly Hills-based La Provence Patisserie & Cafe. The huge cupcakes — that's a regular-sized plastic fork in the photo — come in red velvet, chocolate chocolate cream cheese, and chocolate cream cheese. I can't wait to try one!

Soup's On: Lentil Soup

The other day, when I asked my sister what kind of soup she wanted for dinner, she quickly replied lentil.

The other day, when I asked my sister what kind of soup she wanted for dinner, she quickly replied lentil. I researched some recipes and started chopping vegetables. Later when we sat down to dinner I realized she was only kidding! Luckily the soup was hearty and delicious and my entire family enjoyed it. The original recipe has you puree the soup, but I left it chunky for texture. The croutons add a nice crunch, but don't directly affect the flavor of the soup. Paired with a green salad and a glass of red wine, this is one excellent Winter meal. To see how I made it, read more

Would You Eat This Grasshopper Snack?

The blogger behind Dish a Day actually chased down a mobile snack shack in order to get this grasshopper snack.

The blogger behind Dish a Day actually chased down a mobile snack shack in order to get this grasshopper snack. And according the folks at Treehugger.com, only 20 percent of the folks on the planet don't eat insects. Having said that, I want to know: Would you eat these grasshoppers? Being part of the I'll try anything once club — not to mention I've already tried a scorpion — I think I'd have to say yes. How about you?

Careful, Consumption May Result in Elevated Romance Levels

I was at the drugstore the other day when I noticed an M&Ms display near the front counter.

I was at the drugstore the other day when I noticed an M&Ms display near the front counter. It caught my eye because the entire display was green: the packaging, the M&Ms, the display, everything. Once it had my attention, it was then the smaller print on the display made me chuckle:

Consumption of the The Green Ones may result in elevated Romance Levels.

I'm not sure where the myth comes from, but I definitely remember it from my childhood. According to urban legend, the green ones carry a mythical aphrodisiac-like quality. I guess it was only a matter of time before Mars, the maker of M&Ms, started making money off it. They've been playing it up in commercials for years, but now they're actually offering entire bags of the stuff. So forget red and pink for Valentine's Day; this year it's all about the green.
