Cut Cake With Kake Kut'rs

As you may know, I'm of the Alton Brown "No unitaskers in the kitchen" camp.

As you may know, I'm of the Alton Brown "No unitaskers in the kitchen" camp. However, I just saw this infomercial for Debbie Meyer's Kake Kut'rs ($16.90 for a set of two) and am actually pretty intrigued. The tool, which easily slices cake into various sizes — small, medium, large, tiny, you get to choose! — also doubles as a lifter. You squeeze on the piece you've cut and lift it over to the plate. The video makes it look really simple, and it would definitely be safer than a knife. Since it's a slicer and a lifter, then maybe Alton would approve of its multiuse functionality? Probably not, but it's still pretty cool.

Come Party With Me: Potluck — Drinks

Don't be afraid to ask guests to bring a wine along with their potluck dinner dish.

Don't be afraid to ask guests to bring a wine along with their potluck dinner dish. Suggest that they bring a wine that will pair with either their specific dish or the citrus glazed ham. Pick up water and non-alcoholic beverages like soda or juice.

When guests arrive have a special cocktail ready and waiting. A punch is wonderful because you can set it up and leave it, allowing guests can help themselves. Take advantage of blood orange season, and make a blood orange punch. To see the recipe please read more

Steak n' Legs or How Maxim Is Opening Several Steakhouses

Now that Joe Francis is in jail, the plans for the Girls Gone Wild restaurant are probably on hold.

Now that Joe Francis is in jail, the plans for the Girls Gone Wild restaurant are probably on hold. If this leaves you worrying where you'll go for your steak n' legs dinner then fear no more, Maxim Prime is opening in late March. Restauranteur Jeffrey Chodorow — you may remember him from NBC's The Restaurant — has announced plans to open Maxim Prime, a joint venture with Maxim magazine. The restaurant will be located in New York's Gansevoort Hotel and has a scheduled late March opening. Another branch will be located in Atlanta's Glenn Hotel and 13 other locations will open over five years. Chodorow has said that he does not want it to be like Hooters. Instead he has said it will be, "sexy but sophisticated." Unlike traditional steakhouses, the portions will also be smaller and lighter. Chodorow said:

The people who leave here are going to go someplace else — maybe dancing. They're not going to go home and go to bed.

So if you live in the Atlanta or New York areas, be sure to check it out and report back. I want to know what "sexy but sophisticated" is like. I mean they never said it wasn't going to be "sleazy."

Do You Love Fast Food Too Much to Give It Up?

Move over fast-food loving Americans, Britain has topped the list of countries who love fast food.

Move over fast-food loving Americans, Britain has topped the list of countries who love fast food. In a joint study with the BBC, polling body Synovate determined that 45 percent of Britons agreed with the statement, "I love fast food too much to give it up." This is one percent higher than Americans and eight percent higher than Canadians. Granted, one percent is not that much, and I'm sure the poll has a small margin for error, but still it's interesting to see that we're not the only ones who love fast food.

So how about you, what do you think of the statement? Do you love fast food that much?
