Cute Groundhog Cupcakes

We posted these adorable groundhog cupcakes last year, but I completely forgot about them until right now!

We posted these adorable groundhog cupcakes last year, but I completely forgot about them until right now! While you wait to see if good ol' Phil sees his shadow — it happens tomorrow — why don't you whip up one of these cute Groundhog Day cupcakes?

Start with your favorite cupcake recipe, (or use Magnolia Bakery Vanilla Cupcakes) stick a chocolate candy bar (my suggestion: a mini twix) upright in the baked and cooled cupcake. Spread your favorite frosting to hold the candy in place. To make the groundhog's eyes and tooth, cut a tiny piece of white jelly bean and glue into place with frosting. Dot with black decorators gel or melted chocolate. Cut a triangle noise from a watermelon-shaped sour candy and use mini brown M&Ms for adorable itsy-bitsy edible ears and cheeks. Sprinkle chocolate cookie crumb "dirt" around the groundhog.

Enjoy and have a Happy Groundhog's Day!

Joey Chestnut Does It Again

This afternoon, over 20,000 fans packed the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Penn., to see the sixteenth annual Wing Bowl.

This afternoon, over 20,000 fans packed the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Penn., to see the sixteenth annual Wing Bowl. Joey "Jaws" Chestnut, who was the reigning champion, held onto his title by chowing down on 241 chicken wings in 30 minutes. This was 14 more than his nearest competitor Patrick Bertoletti and 36 more than third place Bill "El Wingador" Simmons.

For his gastronomic feat, Chestnut — when did he obtain the nickname "Jaws"? I swear he didn't have it for the Fourth of July Hot Dog Contest — received a Toyota Tundra, a 2008 Black 883 Sportster motorcycle, a championship ring, and, of course, all the bragging rights.

So what do you folks think, could you eat that many wings in 30 minutes? Could you even eat half the amount? Also, can you believe the number of folks who attended? From the look of things, this place was packed!

Tami715 and her boyfriend are hosting a Super Bowl soirée for a large group of friends. Since Tami needs some inspiring ideas on how to decorate her table, I asked you to head off to market in search of a football-themed table setting. You looked for everything from the tablecloth to plates to the centerpiece to any awesome extras. You bookmarked your finds in the Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag, Super Bowl Setting.

You found some cute stuff, I especially like this football pan that TidalWave discovered. It can be used to make a cake or bread the shape of a football, how festive is that?! For more, browse below.

Happy Hour: Pom Lime Vodka Cocktail

A few weeks ago I helped my girlfriend host a girls-only birthday party.

A few weeks ago I helped my girlfriend host a girls-only birthday party. Instead of serving a full dinner we did appetizers, wine, and a vodka cocktail. The cocktail — with a rosy-pink hue — was a definite crowd pleaser. I doubled the recipe, made the mixture in a pitcher, and shook two servings over ice. The final drink was perfectly sweetened with a lovely effervescence. For an elegant presentation serve the concoction in champagne saucers instead of martini glasses. This cocktail would be fabulous served at a Valentine's Day party so get the recipe now.

A Chat With Pat and Gina Neely

When YumSugar asked me to watch the pilot episode of Food Network's new cooking show, Down Home With the Neelys, I wasn't jumping for joy.

When YumSugar asked me to watch the pilot episode of Food Network's new cooking show, Down Home With the Neelys, I wasn't jumping for joy. The commercials seemed over the top, routine, and like the network had just found more big personalities. However, after watching the show — I laughed out loud — I was hungry for more!

Luckily, I got the chance to speak with Gina and Pat on the phone! They are one warm, fun couple and my Tivo is already set for tomorrow at 11 a.m.

The show is not only a clever, informative cooking show, but it's about the dynamic relationship between the high school sweethearts. Gina Neely is a firecracker, both friendly and feisty. Her husband Pat knows his barbeque and is incredibly personable. To see what happened when I went down home with the Neelys, read more
