Recently my family and I had a dessert so delicious that my parents started acting funny: my mom insisted we eat the bars before dinner and my dad took an entire plateful for himself! What was the dessert? A simple, yet scrumptious chocolate butterscotch bar. Dubbed Alumnae Bars by my great aunt, these bite-sized treats are easy to make and are delightful crowd pleasers. They are completely portable making them perfect for a potluck, picnic, or bake sale. To take a look at the recipe — it's great for using up the "odds and ends" of chocolate chips — read more

Robert Irvine Hopes to Have Another TV Show
Remember when Robert Irvine got canned from Food Network, and how it was a bit shocking? Especially because it was hard to believe someone could embellish his resumé so much and get away with it for so long? Well, in the current issue of US Weekly, Robert Irvine has finally decided to say something. When asked about it, Irvine said:
I'm human and I do make mistakes. It's liberating having this behind me.
And like the tough guy he comes across as, Irvine is going to pick up where he left off and try new things. He's grateful for his fans and hopes to have another TV show in the future. He may also do more charity work for the military.
So what do you folks think? Would you watch another Robert Irvine TV show? Or is he over in your book?
Happy Hour: Wikipedia's Bloody Mary
Last week, I was headed to the grocery store and drove past one of the best Bloody Mary spots in the city. I saw the line of people and knew I had to have one. So while at the store, I picked up some tomato juice, celery, and olives — I was positive I had everything else at home — and rushed straight home.
When I asked YumJimmy which recipe I should make, he told me to try Wikipedia. He said, "Well if it's on Wikipedia it must be the 'classic' one right?" I couldn't really argue with this, so I decided to go for it. It ended up being a delicious — and yes "classic" — version. I opted to add a bit more spice — more cracked pepper and a dash or two more of Tabasco — but flavor it to suit your needs. If you want to see what goes into the Wiki version of a Bloody Mary, just read more

Off to Market: Trifle Dish
While trifles are a perfect dinner party dessert — they are best when made in advance and have a pretty presentation — I shy away from serving them because I don't have a proper trifle dish. Can you help me find a fabulous trifle dish? Look for large, clear vessels that can hold the delicious dessert, layered salads, or fun centerpieces. Save the dishes you discover in the Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag, Trifle Dish. Happy hunting and thanks for your assistance!

Pizza Hut Is Now Pasta Hut . . . or Is It?
OK, I'm assuming this is a Pizza Hut's way of playing a practical April Fool's joke on all of its customers, but you never can tell these days. It could just be and oddly-timed marketing scheme.
This morning, the Pizza Hut chain unveiled new signage declaring they're now serving pasta so good that they've decided to change their name. The dishes that inspired the name change are the Creamy Chicken Alfredo and Meaty Marinara. The 3-lb. servings — that are baked in a blend of sauce and cheese — will be available for $11.99. Scott Bergen, Pizza Hut's CEO, said:
For 50 years we've been all about pizza. As we've prepared for the launch of our new line of Tuscani Pastas our customers have consistently told us these pastas are so good we should change our name to Pasta Hut. Starting tomorrow, Pizza Hut is Pasta Hut.
I can't imagine they would actually change their name, although I could see them doing it for a short promotional period. Surely the name change must be an April Fool's joke? Either way I want to know, are you curious about their new baked pastas, and would you buy pasta from Pizza Hut?

Would You Buy Someone a Drink Online?
Belvedere Vodka has just announced their new Buy Your Friend a Belvedere program. You go to the site, login, buy your friend a drink — yes, with real money — and they'll receive a drink code via email or a text message. Your friend then goes online to find a participating bar or restaurant, takes the code to that place and gives it the bartender. The bartender gives your friend a drink and voila, you've bought your friend a drink!
It's sort of a neat idea, but it's a bit convoluted. I'd rather just plan to meet up and buy my friend a drink in person. Although, if your friend lives across the country, it might be a nice way to say hello! What do you think, would you buy your friend a drink through the internet?
Monday's Leftovers: Roasted Chicken Purses
While you could easily use leftover roast chicken to make chicken salad, I recommend you use it to make something a little more exciting like roasted chicken purses. This creative recipe combines leftover chicken with ricotta cheese and lemon zest. The mixture is stuffed into wonton wrappers and cooked like pasta. The result is a bite sized treat that is savory and scrumptious. These would make delicious appetizers or a delightful meal when paired with a green salad. To see the recipe, read more
