Toast to Mom
If you're thinking of sending your mom an ecard this Mother's Day, send one from Toast to Mom. This website is partnering with Clos du Bois — one of my favorite affordable wine makers — to raise money for women's heart disease.
For each sent ecard, Clos du Bois will donate $1 to the cause. The site also has tips for healthy living and some delicious-looking recipes for grilled shrimp with mango salsa and spicy oven fried chicken. I've already sent etoasts to the important mothers in my life and suggest you do the same!

Come Party With Me: 30th Birthday — Drinks
The best thing about hosting your 30th birthday party at a bar is that you don't have to worry about making cocktails. Talk to the management and make arrangements for either an open bar, a wine/beer/specialty cocktail bar, or a no hosts bar in which guests pay for their own drinks.
For DearSugar's 30th birthday at Le Colonial, the bar will be open. One of the cocktails that's on the extensive cocktail menu is a delicious blend of orange flavored vodka and fresh passion fruit. To take a look at the recipe, read more
Top Chef Quiz: Wedding Season
This year Top Chef caught the wedding bug, and forced the cheftestants to stay up all night. There was a lot of emotion, and a lot of hard work. It was a fun episode to watch — although I still missed restaurant wars — but were you paying close attention? Find out when you take our quiz!

Take the QuizNot Your Regular Nachos: Buffalo Nachos
After stuffing myself silly with Mexican food nachos on Cinco de Mayo, I just couldn't bear to have another plate of tortilla chips covered in cheese. That's why I started thinking about other types of chips and toppings. Before I knew it, I was in my kitchen crazily making these buffalo — as in wings not mozzarella — nachos. In this insanely tasty dish, sour cream and onion potato chips are topped with diced buffalo chicken and a blue-cheese sauce. The dish is baked and topped with fresh chopped parsley, green onions, and celery. To see how I made this surprisingly delicious snack, read more
Shayna Leaves Hell and Returns Home to Baby
On Hell's Kitchen this week, Ramsay asked new mother — were you surprised her recently born baby wasn't mentioned until this episode? — Shayna to hang up her chef's coat and leave the kitchen. Although Rosann, screwed up an important steak order, I knew Shayna was going home based on the editing. In previous episodes, she was rarely a featured character. Yesterday I spoke with Shayna over the phone — to find out what she's up to and what she thinks of Ramsay, read more
Help Stamp Out Hunger This Weekend
This Saturday, May 10, the US Postal Service is running their 16th Annual Stamp Out Hunger campaign. During the day long drive, they'll gather food in over 10,000 cities, in each of the 50 United States.
To participate, all you have to do is leave a bag of non-perishable food — canned veggies, meats, soup, cereal, pasta, and rice — near your mailbox. Be sure to put it out before the postal carrier arrives. They'll take it back to the post office where it will then be delivered to a local food bank, pantry or shelter.

However, citizens living in New York City and Chicago are encouraged to take their food to a local post office branch because the mail carriers won't be able to easily transport all the donations they receive.
To find out if your community is participating, call your nearest post office.
Fast & Easy Dinner: Spinach-Feta Calzone Casserole
Spinach and feta are a classic Mediterranean combination. The salty feta perfectly complements the fresh greens. Tonight use this dynamic duo to make a delicious casserole sized calzone. The vegetarian filling — reminiscent of spanakopita — is a mixture of wilted spinach, sautéed onion, crushed red pepper, garlic, and feta.
