Strawberry and Raspberry Frozen Yogurt Popsicle

Here at Sugar HQ, everyone is crazy for the new, dangerously close frozen yogurt joint, SoGreen.

Here at Sugar HQ, everyone is crazy for the new, dangerously close frozen yogurt joint, SoGreen. After consuming a couple of SoGreen's delicious, fruity treats, I decided to experiment with my own variation. Currently I'm obsessed with Popsicles, so naturally, I was inspired to make a frozen yogurt Popsicle.

The recipe is simple with only a couple ingredients: strained yogurt, fresh fruit, and sugar. I had strawberries and golden raspberries on hand, but any fruit combination would work.

Once frozen, the bite-sized strawberry chunks were more crunchy than I would have preferred. To avoid the crunchy and hard-to-eat fruit, be sure to thinly slice all berries. Much like any other homemade Popsicle, the hardest part is waiting for them to freeze.

Would You Eat These Meatloaf Cupcakes?

This is a rare Would You Eat This wherein I first heard about meatloaf cupcakes, I thought they sounded gross.

This is a rare Would You Eat This wherein I first heard about meatloaf cupcakes, I thought they sounded gross. Then later, after finding this photo I decided they looked delicious!

The "icing" is made of mashed potatoes, and the pink coloring comes from beetroot. Are you loving these as much as I am?

Happy Hour: Long Irish Iced Tea

When I'm not craving mojitos or other hard and fruity cocktails, I find that warm weather makes me thirst for spiked drinks inspired by iced tea.

When I'm not craving mojitos or other hard and fruity cocktails, I find that warm weather makes me thirst for spiked drinks inspired by iced tea. In my college days, I occasionally threw back a Long Island Iced Tea, and though the drink gets a bad rap for being so darn strong, it's also deliciously refreshing.

If you're longing (har har) for a more sophisticated take on the Long Island, I recently discovered a variation called the Long Irish Iced Tea, which uses citrus vodka, a honey-flavored Irish whiskey, and a cognac liqueur called Celtic Crossing. To get the recipe, read more

New York has Tasti D-lite, Los Angeles has Pinkberry, and finally San Francisco has jumped on the frozen-yogurt bandwagon with the opening of SoGreen. Like it's counterparts, SoGreen uses real yogurt with active cultures that can help with digestion and boosting the immune system. The hot spot opened literally downstairs from our office, so a bunch of us recently took a froyo field trip. To check out our trip and interview with SoGreen's co-founder, watch the video below!

Should Nipa Have Been Kicked off the Next Food Network Star?

Last night's interesting episode of the the Next Food Network Star had the contestants running around New York on an ingredient scavenger hunt and cooking Dinner Impossible style on a train. The show started with an appearance by fallen star Robert Irvine and ended with a contestant wanting to quit.

Did you watch? Were you surprised by Lisa's success? Should Kevin or Nipa have been sent home? I was personally annoyed by Nipa's righteous behavior — didn't it take her forever to get ready? — and hoped the judges would eliminate her. How about you?

Monday's Leftovers: Chicken Salad with Cumin Carrot Raita

Making chicken salad is a classic way to use up leftover grilled chicken.

Making chicken salad is a classic way to use up leftover grilled chicken. However, when the leftover chicken happens to be tandoori style grilled chicken, the chicken salad is anything but ordinary.

This recipe combines the moist meat with cumin, radishes, and carrots. There's no mayonnaise involved, instead the base of the sauce is whole milk yogurt.

Off to Market: Sangria Pitcher

My favorite sangria pitcher has cracked.

My favorite sangria pitcher has cracked. I removed it from the dishwasher when it was warm, added a bunch of ice, and put a giant crack in it. While I was bummed at first, I realized that this means I have to get a new pitcher! Can you help me find a delightful sangria pitcher? Look for a large, pretty pitcher that will hold both white and red sangrias, lemonade, or iced tea. Bookmark the pitchers in the Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag, Sangria Pitcher. I appreciate your help!
