A grainy sweetened ice that's flavored with fruit puree, coffee, or wine. A granita is a traditional Italian dessert and can vary widely in texture based on its freezing method. Those produced in a gelato machine have fine ice crystals, while another technique that combines freezing and scraping will give you a coarser, crystalline texture. Still others have a slushy consistency and are served as drinks. For a simple, elegant finish, try topping a fresh fruit granita with orange or lemon zest.
A widespread shortage of meatless Gardenburgers has put veggie patties in short supply and high demand. The Seattle Times reports that Gardenburgers have been scarce since April and May, when parent company Kellogg's discovered a quality control issue. Stressed rivals Boca Burger, MorningStar Farms, and Amy's Kitchen are scrambling to meet the veggie burger needs of the country.
According to Kellogg's, the shortage of Gardenburgers was due to plant improvements. However, it says production is back in full swing:
We are working as hard as we can to fill orders in time for the summer grilling season.
Don't be surprised if (as our copy editor recently discovered) your request for a meatless burger gets turned down. I favor a beef patty to an all-veggie one, so I won't be too affected by the shortage. What about you? Have you wondered where all the garden burgers have gone?

It's not only delicious in the wedge salad, but it's great on spinach salads, tasty as a dip with carrots or buffalo wings, and scrumptious slathered as a spread on steak sandwiches. To learn how to make this simple yet rewarding dressing, read more

Last night on the Next Food Network Star the contestants had to perform a live demonstration with children on Rachael Ray's daytime television show. For the first time, I thought all of the contestants did surprisingly well. However, I thought Kelsey, whose interaction with the girl scout was wonderful, performed the best. The judges disagreed and she was in the bottom two. Did you watch?
After watching Steven Raichlen's barbecue presentation at the Food and Wine Classic, I knew I had to make his corn. He cooked it with a coconut milk-based coating, but acknowledges that it's tasty on its own, slathered in butter, or doused with a mayo-lime-chili concoction. The only thing he insisted on was grilling it with the husk off. Cooking corn with the husks on only steams the corn, it does not grill it. However the husks do come in handy, to make the corn easier to eat, he turns the husks into handles! To learn how, read more
Leftover grilled salmon makes a scrumptious add in to a hearty salad. In this tasty recipe, the salad is served in a crunchy, edible tortilla bowl. A mix of fruits (mangoes, strawberries, and oranges) and vegetables (lettuce and avocado) are lightly tossed with a tarragon buttermilk dressing. No worries, if you don't have leftover salmon: start fresh and quickly grill it. To look at the must make recipe, read more
