Since arriving roughly 48 hours ago, here on location in sunny Aspen, CO, YumSugar and I have had an incredibly busy and exciting time.

Since arriving roughly 48 hours ago, here on location in sunny Aspen, CO, YumSugar and I have had an incredibly busy and exciting time. First there was a series of entertaining opening parties: one catered by four of the five Top Chef winners and another hosted at a gorgeous house by Spaniard Jose Andrés. Then there was a day filled with seminars; we've learned tips from master chefs Michael Symon, Mario Batali, and Michael Chiarello (to name a few), and of course, the tastings (wine, wine, and more wine). The highlight however, was when we met Food & Wine editor in chief Dana Cowin and inspired her latest Twitter contest! For all the delicious details, come back next week!

Rubber Corks: Love Them or Hate Them?

I dislike rubber corks.

I dislike rubber corks. Sure, I appreciate their usefulness, (rubber corks protect against tainted or "corked" wine) but I simply can't stand them. Rubber corks are much harder to remove than their natural counterparts; I've broken more than one wine opener while trying to pull a rubber cork out; and after the bottle is open, the rubber corks never slide easily back inside. Am I overreacting? Does anyone else have a problem with rubber corks?
