Sometimes it's nice to prepare a big bowl of beans; then, you can use the beans over and over again to make different dishes throughout the week. Tonight I suggest you throw together a pot of these fragrant and flavorful black beans. The recipe calls for canned beans, so you don't have to worry about overnight-soaking or cooking for a long period of time. Serve the beans in a crispy taco shell, layered between two soft tortillas as quesadillas, or tossed with greens in a hearty salad. To get the fast and easy recipe, keep reading.

Would You Eat IHOP at Home?

Today IHOP announced the launch of a new line of premium frozen breakfast foods, IHOP at Home.

Today IHOP announced the launch of a new line of premium frozen breakfast foods, IHOP at Home. The products, which are available exclusively at Walmart, consist of French Toast Stuffed Pastries, Omelet Crispers, and Griddle 'n Sausage wraps.

There are no details about the cooking method of these breakfast items, which I find a little unappealing. Do they go in the toaster? Microwave? Toaster oven? Although I haven't tasted them, I can't imagine that they are all that good.

Still, when I was younger, pizza pockets piping hot from the microwave were an after-school treat, so maybe in a pinch, these could hit the spot for a fast breakfast. Are you interested in trying IHOP at Home?

Happy Hour: Pineapple-Rum Cocktail

I just spent a week in Hawaii, and with the revival of tiki culture, bars and restaurants are agog over tropical classics. Since it was such a standard drink, everywhere I went, I ordered a mai tai.

There's something tireless about the combination of pineapples, lime, and dark rum — although once I returned home in a lackadaisical state, I served myself a pared-down rendition, something I've started calling the lazy-man's mai tai.

Because it can be made ahead with basic bar ingredients, it's my new favorite refreshment. Want the recipe? Then read on.
