Flavored Syrup: Endless Possibilities

Simple syrup is one hot ingredient right now, and what's so great about it is that it takes minimal effort to create something special and useful. We've been noticing unique and exciting flavor combinations and recipes, like rhubarb and rosewater syrup, popping up all over the place.
To make your own flavored simple syrup, all you need to do is add whatever flavoring component (citrus zest, lavender buds, rose water) you desire into the boiling sugar water and let it infuse (the longer you let it cook together, the stronger the flavoring will be), then strain the syrup and store it. Now we can't stop daydreaming about all of the possible flavor combinations out there that we can't wait to use in Summer cocktails, iced tea, and homemade sodas. For some flavor combinations we can't wait to try, read on.
Bobby, Giada, Guy Up For Emmy Nods — Who Should Win?
Today, the Daytime Emmy Awards revealed who's in the running for top nods, and, as expected, a number of culinary personalities and cooking shows are on the list.
Giada de Laurentiis, Rick Bayless, Paula Deen, Sandra Lee, and Nate Berkus are all in the running for outstanding lifestyle/culinary host, and Rachael Ray is up for outstanding talk show host. Even the defunct Martha Stewart Show got props with an outstanding lifestyle program nomination.
One of the biggest honors bestowed on the food community is that of outstanding culinary program, and this year, no matter who wins, the folks at Food Network will be celebrating; all four nominees belong to the Scripps family. Tell us: who would you vote for as the best cooking show?

Perfectly Seasonal: Nasturtium Pesto
How does your garden grow? Now that the weather in California's started to warm, all of the vegetables in mine have finally started to grow! Nothing's quite large enough to pick yet, except for a few nasturtium plants, which are growing like weeds.
When life gives you nasturtium leaves, make nasturtium pesto! I used the traditional ingredients in a basil pesto, but substituted the basil with a big bowl of hand-picked nasturtiums.

See what I topped with this condiment, then make your own version of this fresh pesto.

Quick Tip: Fluff Up Your Scrambled Eggs With an Immersion Blender

I have always wondered why my scrambled eggs aren't as light and fluffy as the ones in restaurants, but recently a friend of mine suggested using an immersion blender to beat eggs together before cooking, and now I'm hooked. The immersion blender beats air into the eggs, making them fluffy, frothy, and delicious. All that's left is to cook the eggs in a hot pan with a pat of butter or a drizzle of olive oil.
What is your method for making fluffy scrambled eggs?
