Today is National Hunger Awareness Day and so I thought I'd tell you about this great book called Hungry Planet: What the World Eats by Peter Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio. It's a fascinating coffee table book with portraits of families, surrounded by the food they eat during the course of a week. It's amazingly thought-provoking (compare the Californian family to say, the family in Bhutan or Chad) and wonderfully interesting.

Where're the veggies?
You didn't see the 3 lone stalks of broccoli?
Nasty. I would only allow myself to eat four of those things.
Gross. Everything is processed.
"Oh gee Mr Pediatrician/Teacher, I have NO IDEA why my child isnt paying attention in class, and hyper, perhaps she has ADHD?"
This is supposed to be California?!?! I wouldnt be so bothered that it was an American table - but in California I would like to think they would highlight familes that take advantage of all the wonderfully fresh produce. Even my "unhealthy" fast food friends have more produce in their house than this.
dont forget the carrots maybe since its in a cup they juice it i love carrot juice
you people are all so food pretentious and judgmental.
death of marat: agreed people are a bit quick to judge, but more than that i am happy to see a shift in people's perceptions of food, and that not everyone eats so much processed food and junk!
