Know someone who is coming back from a stint away? Host a welcome back in their honor! I'll be doing that for the return of my dear friend Melissa with a San Francisco themed cocktail party. Melissa has created a guestlist, and I made/sent the invitations through email. The soiree will be at my home and all of the food will be local, fresh ingredients that highlight the SF Bay Area's most delicious dishes. Wine country will serve as the inspiration for the drinks, but if you think I'm taking the easy way out by pouring bottles of wine, think again! I'll be offering two types of sangria the classic red and a refreshing white wine version (known as clerico). Even if you are not hosting a welcome back party, your summer will not be complete without these sangria recipes so, read more
A recent report, creatively entitled "Men in Grocery Stores," discovered that men shop inefficiently and never ask for help (I could probably insert some stereotypical male joke here, but will leave the laughs for GiggleSugar).
Unlike female shoppers, males give more thought to convenience than price and are more likely to hone in on a specific product, ignoring the rest of the aisle and "circling back" to get items missed the first time. However, if they can't find it, then they just don't need it.
Many men have difficulty finding items, forego buying rather than risk purchasing a substitute for an item on the grocery list and hesitate to ask for help if they can't find an item.
What do you folks think? Ladies, does this describe your guys? Guys, does this describe you?
I am one lucky daughter... my parents recently gave me a shiny new blue KitchenAid mixer! Now that I have this handy new gadget to help me, I plan on taking my skills as a baker to the next level with fluffy whipped cream and tasty cake batters. Since I plan on doing a lot of baking, I have to get some incredibly cute pot holders. The gloves I use now are old, dirty, and just plain gross. Help me by heading off to market in search of the prettiest pot holders. I like bright, vibrant colors and girlie accents and prefer cloth over silicone pot holders. Save the gloves you find in the Yum Market on TeamSugar tagged with the keyword, Pot Holders. I know you will find the most adorable ones out there, so start looking!

Cachaça, pronounced, ka-cha-saw
The national liquor of Brazil. Both rum and cachaça are made from the sugar cane plant - rum is made from distilled molasses while cachaça is made from pure, fermented sugar cane juice. With origins that date back to Portuguese settlers in the 1600s, the liquor became a symbol of Brazil in the 1920s. It ranges in age and colors, similar to a tequila, and is sipped on the rocks all throughout Brazil.
When I dined stuffed my face at the Brazilian steakhouse, it was really difficult to not devour the complementary mini loafs of cheesebread. Known as Pão de Queijo, these little puffs are made from tapioca flour and are so light and fluffy and surprisingly dense at the same time. When we decided to highlight Brazilian food today, I knew I'd have to use the opportunity to dig up a recipe. It's pretty easy to follow, just make sure you don't underbake them (which would result in an uncooked/doughy middle). To knead up your own batch, check out the recipe, just read more
Did you ever dream of running your own chocolate factory? How about becoming a chocolate tycoon? If you answered yes to either of those, then have I got a game for you. Our pals at PlayFirst (who are sponsoring this advertorial) have created a new game called Chocolatier. In it you are helping the Baumeister Confection Company rebuild their brand by starting with a chocolate factory and a simple chocolate bar recipe. In order to rebuild the empire, you have to find the best ingredients (varietal cacao beans, Trinidad lemons, Madagascar vanilla, etc.) at the best prices and compete in adventures to obtain recipes, factories and more. There are over 130 quests to complete, 64 recipes to find, 6 factories to conquer and 14 cities to travel to.
If you're interested, you can download a free 60-minute demo - be warned, just like chocolate, it's a bit addictive. If you like what you see, it's available for $19.95, but if you use one of these coupon codes (all lower case) you'll receive $5 off.
