I'd like to give a huge congratulations to Bloodyfufu! She's the lucky owner of a new Cuisnart Supreme Ice Cream Maker. Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest! Be sure to enter in future giveaways for your chance to win a fabulous prize.
Since we're giving high fives, I'd like everyone to give shoneyjoe a pat on the back: He was June's top talker! It's the first time in Yum history a male was our top talker. Shoneyjoe provided great perspective on everything from Hell's Kitchen (he's rooting for Petrozza) to Japanese eggplant (he loves it). To thank him for leaving so many fabulous comments, we're sending shoneyjoe a YumSugar apron.
If you want one, you can always order one yourself. Check out all the fun YumSugar swag below.

On this day in 1881, the
ice cream sundae was invented by a soda fountain operator in Two Rivers, WI. In honor of the occasion, I've found seven grown-up versions of the childhood favorite. Some are simply gourmet, while others use adults-only ingredients. But don't worry: None of them will

During the hot Summer, I hate to be indoors. Browsing through Everyday Food: Great Food Fast, I found the perfect recipe to escape my toasty kitchen, Cubano Quesadillas. The recipe requires a minimum amount of preparation and everything is cooked on the grill!
Traditionally, Cubano sandwiches consist of glazed ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, spicy mustard, and dill pickles served on Cuban bread. This recipe combines these delicious ingredients and contrasting flavors. They're topped with sweet, grilled red onions and sandwiched between two crisp tortillas. Granita
A grainy sweetened ice that's flavored with fruit puree, coffee, or wine. A granita is a traditional Italian dessert and can vary widely in texture based on its freezing method. Those produced in a gelato machine have fine ice crystals, while another technique that combines freezing and scraping will give you a coarser, crystalline texture. Still others have a slushy consistency and are served as drinks. For a simple, elegant finish, try topping a fresh fruit granita with orange or lemon zest.

A widespread shortage of meatless Gardenburgers has put veggie patties in short supply and high demand. The Seattle Times reports that Gardenburgers have been scarce since April and May, when parent company Kellogg's discovered a quality control issue. Stressed rivals Boca Burger, MorningStar Farms, and Amy's Kitchen are scrambling to meet the veggie burger needs of the country.
According to Kellogg's, the shortage of Gardenburgers was due to plant improvements. However, it says production is back in full swing:
We are working as hard as we can to fill orders in time for the summer grilling season.
Don't be surprised if (as our copy editor recently discovered) your request for a meatless burger gets turned down. I favor a beef patty to an all-veggie one, so I won't be too affected by the shortage. What about you? Have you wondered where all the garden burgers have gone?

It may be old-fashioned, but I love a good wedge salad. With its crisp, cool lettuce and tangy, creamy dressing, the iceberg and blue cheese combination is incredibly comforting. While good bottled blue cheese dressings exist, there's nothing like the thick, rich homemade variation.
It's not only delicious in the wedge salad, but it's great on spinach salads, tasty as a dip with carrots or buffalo wings, and scrumptious slathered as a spread on steak sandwiches. To learn how to make this simple yet rewarding dressing, read more
