I didn't grow up eating soft-boiled eggs, so I never knew what an egg cup was. It's used to keep your egg from falling over, so you can scoop out the gooey insides. Pretty useful if you ask me. Normally they're little white cups with a small stand; however, sometimes they can get really creative. I've rounded up 10 unique egg cups, from soldiers to elves, I've found some weird things. This morning I suggested you stuff chicken breasts with herbed couscous. Another alternative would be to stuff them with the fragrant bulgur-wheat dish pictured below. Do you know what it's called?
Recently, I was lucky enough to sit down with one of my idols: the extraordinary event planner Colin Cowie. We met for coffee on a sunny California afternoon and discussed his new book Chic, the do's and don'ts of being a fabulous hostess, and the formula for a successful and memorable party. Colin oozes chicness in everything he does, whether it's working as creative director of a yet-to-be-opened hotel in Hong Kong, planning a wedding for Middle Eastern royalty, or simply making dinner for a few friends in his stylish home.

If you are sick of heavy chocolate desserts, consider making a trifle for your next dinner party. I've found two recipes for you to experiment with — one uses help from the grocery store and the other is one hundred percent homemade — give both a try or combine elements from each recipe to make your own special trifle. Recently my girlfriend went to sushi with her BF. She made the mistake of ordering a roll that featured unagi — Japanese eel — as the main ingredient. She didn't want to send it back, but it was definitely not something she felt comfortable eating. Luckily her boyfriend ended up eating the unagi, however her story left me wondering. What do you do when you accidentally order something out of your comfort zone?
Since I am hosting my half birthday happy hour at a bar that does not serve food, I plan on making some snacks for my friends to enjoy. However, before I thought about the menu, I spoke to the owner of Rye and asked if I could bring in the food. After receiving his permission, I decided to keep things simple and elegant. I won't have access to an oven so the appetizers will be cold or at room temperature. An assortment of half sandwiches — brie and pesto, ham and gouda, shrimp salad — will be served on mini brioche buns.
Other savory bites include roast beef grissini and gruyere thyme crackers. For the recipes to these scrumptious hors d'oeurves, read more
