This summer a press release went out with limited fanfare. The folks at Hershey's were teaming up with Starbucks. At the time there was very little news available, other than an upcoming Starbucks-branded premium chocolate. The news piqued my interest, but there was no word on when the products would hit the shelves. Turns out it's today.
Using the expertise of Artisan Confection Company — a division of Hershey's that includes Scharffen Berger and Joseph Schmidt — Starbucks has created a line of products to sell in stores. Last night, a friend of mine ordered food from a new take-out restaurant. She was settling in for the night when she received a call, it was the delivery guy asking her to come downstairs and pick up her food. She lives on the top story of a house, so there's a large curved stairway that you have to climb in order to get from the street to her front door. I thought it was crazy that they made her finish the last leg of the delivery. Would they have done that if she lived in an apartment building? What do you think? Shouldn't the delivery guy have gone all the way to her front door?
Leftover salmon is great by itself, but if you are looking for a way to cook a whole new meal with it, think about making salmon burgers. Salmon burgers are a nice, healthy alternative to the classic burger. The salmon is mixed with chives, mustard, and soy sauce creating super flavorful patties. As crazy as it sounds, I have — for as long as I can remember — always celebrated my half birthday. In my opinion a half birthday is a great excuse to have a fabulous time. The most important thing to remember when hosting a half birthday party is that it's not your real birthday, therefore the shindig should not be more extravagant than your birthday was six months ago.
