No one seems to know why, but today is International Polar Bear Day. When I heard that, the first thing I thought of — okay well second, the first thing was Lost — was Klondike Bars. Here's the scenario: you are at home and hungry. You have to cook up something scrumptious for you and your boyfriend/girlfriend/ spouse/child/friend, but the ingredients you have on hand are limited.
You have a bunch of fragrant basil, creamy goat cheese, and marinara sauce. Using these products, along with whatever you currently have on hand in your cupboard and refrigerator, what would you make?
A friend of mine was complaining about how she had an awful caprese salad the other day. I felt sad for her food misstep, but I couldn't really feel sorry for her. After all, neither tomatoes nor basil are in season right now.

So, if tomatoes are out, what is in? To get a list of some fruits and veggies that are in their prime right now, read more
