Spotted: Past Project Runway contestants Jay McCarroll and Christopher Straub behind the scenes at Project Runway Season 7 runway show. Of the ten contestants who showed their collections, McCarroll and Straub's top picks were Amy Sarabi, Jay Nicolas, and Ben Chmura. McCarroll talks about designer Alexander McQueen's last collection and his personal style.
The Victoria's Secret angels are getting ready for the big show this evening (Doutzen is already in hair and makeup), and ELLE.com has a sneak peek at wing fittings for Doutzen Kroes and Miranda Kerr.
The show themes, according to stylist Charlotte Stockdale, range from forest nymphs to futuristic femme fatales and fairy princesses:
“We came up with the idea of this girl who lands from outer space in Paris. She gets on a train that comes to a halt in Pinkland, where pink girls get on and off. Then they go into this fairy-tale forest and little lady bugs and butterflies land on them and vines grow up on their clothes. Then, there’s Tick-Tock Time; the wings in this section are based on clocks—there’s one modeled after a pocket watch with metallic feathers. And she ends up in this regal realm of princess-ness, where the wings have Swarovski jewels and peacock feathers.”
There will be five sections in the runway show, each with 12 looks. Although the show is happening tonight in New York, it will air December 1 on CBS.

A couple of weeks ago I helped assemble a cupcake tower for a friend's wedding. The cupcakes were created by Grace Park, an experienced home cook and avid baker. Although this was Park's second time baking a wedding dessert, making and transporting over 100 cupcakes is no easy task.
After testing several recipes with the bride, Park selected two flavors of cupcakes — chocolate raspberry and lemon pound cake — and topped both with a Swiss meringue frosting. The recipes were from The Australian Women's Weekly Cupcakes and Fairy Cakes cookbook, and the final look of the cupcake tower was inspired by this cake.
