Nude lips are a makeup go-to, especially during the warmer months.

Nude lips are a makeup go-to, especially during the warmer months. This week, three ladies stepped out rocking the look along with very different makeup palettes. Blake Lively paired her glossy nudes with peach shadow and emerald-green liner, while Jennifer Lopez added black liner with amped-up lashes. And Brandy added a smoky brown shadow to complement her glossy lips. Nude lips are so versatile that it basically pairs with anything, but whose did you prefer?

Gabrielle Union hosted the event, which will air on BET Feb. 11, and walked the carpet in a sexy green gown. Halle Berry, who was honored with an award for service, chose a strapless Monique Lhuillier dress for the occasion and posed alongside pal Alicia Keys on her way inside. Alicia looked glamorous in a black CD Greene ensemble, though she changed into a fitted red number to perform during the show. Brandy also took the stage and sang with Anthony Burrell, while Kelly Rowland mingled with pals backstage and in the audience.

Who Had the Best Bob at the American Music Awards?

A few typically long-haired starlets decided to do something different for the American Music Awards this year.

A few typically long-haired starlets decided to do something different for the American Music Awards this year. Brandy, Christina Aguilera, and Kerry Washington all wore shorter-than-usual strands on the red carpet. Brandy's waist-grazing lengths were folded under into a wavy faux bob that pulled together her '20s-inspired ensemble. Christina sidestepped her dip-dyed hair for a shorter and straighter bob (a wig, perhaps), and Kerry Washington went for a cropped and tucked curly bob. But of all these temporary haircuts, which one made a lasting impression?

Cognac 101: A Very Special Guide

Happy National Cognac Day!

Happy National Cognac Day! Ever since "Hennessey" was first name-dropped in hip-hop lyrics and Tim Meadows's Ladies Man started sipping Courvosier, I've been curious about cognac. With all the VSOPs and XOs, cognac can be intimidating. So if you're also wondering what all those letters on the labels mean, I've put together a little primer.

  • Cognac is a brandy, but not all brandies are cognacs. The name refers to brandies produced in the Cognac region of France, made from white wine grapes that are first fermented, and then double distilled.
  • From this distillation, you get a liquid called eau de vie, which is aged in oak barrels to become cognac.

All those different letters refer to how long a cognac is aged. Find out what they mean.

Happy Hour: Ginger Sidecar

While you want Thanksgiving tipples to be memorable and festive, make sure to keep them accessible enough for the whole family (including your less-than-experimental sister-in-law).

While you want Thanksgiving tipples to be memorable and festive, make sure to keep them accessible enough for the whole family (including your less-than-experimental sister-in-law). One way I like to approach this is by placing a contemporary twist on an otherwise standby cocktail.

Much like a pear essence cosmopolitan mellows out the cosmo, here, ginger and maple syrup add a Winter twist to the classic World War I-era sidecar. It won't rouse any raised eyebrows, but do prepare yourself for a table full of compliments. For a timeless cocktail with a hint of sugar and spice, read more.

Brandy Tweets Her New Ganesha Tattoo

If you've been wondering what Brandy's up to since Dancing With the Stars ended, now you've got your answer.

If you've been wondering what Brandy's up to since Dancing With the Stars ended, now you've got your answer. Ms. Norwood's been getting inked, specifically with a large line drawing of Ganesha, the elephant-headed deva of intellect and wisdom. She recently tweeted a picture of her ink, as well as a shot of herself with her tattoo artist. The Ganesha is very pretty, but when Brandy got it, she also tweeted that the Lord of Beginnings is an "Egyptian god! Remover of all obstacles." Given the fact that Ganesha is probably the best-loved god from one of the world's major religions, getting his pantheon of origin wrong suggests that Brandy may not know him well. In cases like these, do you think it's appropriate for non-Hindus to wear the religion's gods as ink? Or is it just a cool tattoo?
