Get Fit For 2010 Giveaway: Challenge 5, Share a Healthy Recipe

We've all been journaling about our food and fitness, but now it's time to take to the kitchen.

We've all been journaling about our food and fitness, but now it's time to take to the kitchen. This week's challenge: post a recipe in the Get Fit For 2010 community group using the recipe template and be sure to add your original photo. Cooking your own meals is a great way to watch not only your calories but portion sizes as well. And since we are all in this together, swapping recipes is a great way to refresh your home cooked meals. Here's the 411 on how to create a recipe in the Get Fit group. When you post your recipe in the community group, you will be automatically entered for a chance to win our weekly prize — a $100 Nike gift card.

Meeting this challenge also enters you to win our fabulous grand prize: a $1,000 gift card from Nike; a year of personalized nutrition plans by nutritionist Alexa Fishback, plus a copy of her book; a year membership to 24 Hour Fitness for you and a friend; and two Bodybuggs. At the end of three months, we will pick a grand prize winner at random from all of the entries in all of the weekly challenges. The more you participate, the more chances you have to win the grand prize! A little extra motivation to help you meet your healthy goals for 2010.

If you're not already a member of the PopSugar Community, register here now. Click here for the official rules.

You have until 11:59 p.m. PST on Sunday, Feb. 14, to complete this fifth challenge. Let's get cooking!

How are your New Year's resolutions coming along?

How are your New Year's resolutions coming along? You've had over a week to live with them, and here's your chance to reassess your health and fitness goals for the new year with the Get Fit For 2010 community challenge. Since sticking to resolutions — running a marathon, losing your baby weight, or eating a more balanced diet — can be rough, we have not only started a community group for support but also created a contest so you can win prizes while working toward becoming a healthier you. For the next 12 weeks, we will be posting a challenge on FitSugar every Monday, and by meeting the challenge you will be automatically entered for a chance to win the weekly prize — a $100 Nike gift card.

This week's challenge: Write a blog post stating your fitness and health goals for the year in the Get Fit For 2010 group. I'd love to see a "before" image to go with your blog post too.

I am participating (one of my goals is to run a half marathon), and my pal LilSugar is joining the community too — she'll be video blogging her progress every Tuesday. If you're ready to join the fun and feel the community support, log in and head directly to Get Fit For 2010. Need a little help making a blog post? Then check out these tips on posting in our group.

What's Your Favorite Farmers Market Tote?

In honor of this weekend's colossal Slow Food Nation event, PartySugar and I are celebrating sustainable living by using (and showing off!) our favorite farmers market totes.

In honor of this weekend's colossal Slow Food Nation event, PartySugar and I are celebrating sustainable living by using (and showing off!) our favorite farmers market totes. Now we want you to do the same! Snap a pic of you with your favorite reusable farmers market bag and send it to us. I'll feature all the submissions in an upcoming post.

After we've received all of the entries, we'll pick one lucky winner to get her very own YumSugar tote! I can't wait to see your favorite totes.

Don't Forget to Show Us Your Farmers Market Totebags!

The culinary world is gearing up for Slow Food Nation.

The culinary world is gearing up for Slow Food Nation. The festival, which celebrates local, sustainable farm-to-table food, is in San Francisco over Labor Day weekend. Slow Food encourages people to purchase seasonal produce from farmers markets in an environmentally-friendly manner. That means toting the goods in a reusable bag rather than a disposable one.

Currently, I'm bringing back this navy blue Marc by Marc Jacobs tote that I bought last year. It's soft and flexible, yet able to hold everything I buy. I love the way it pokes fun at itself as well as designer labels in general.
To celebrate Slow Food, both PartySugar and I have taken pictures (she debuted hers earlier this week) with our beloved farmers market totes, and now we want you to do the same! Snap a pic of you with your favorite reusable farmers market bag and send it to us. You can use the Look Book feature on TeamSugar, post it in a blog, or on your own website. When everyone's submitted their photos (due date: Sept. 1), I'll do a giant post featuring everyone's pictures (and you don't have to cover your face, we're just shy!)

To be included in the roundup, notify me via email with "YumSugar Farmers Market Tote" in the subject line, or personal message me with the following information:

- Name you want me to use
- Where you're from
- What farmers market you shop at
- Details about your favorite totebag
- Link to your LookBook, blog post, or website or photo of you holding your favorite tote
- One short sentence on why you chose that tote

After we've received all of the submissions, we'll pick one lucky winner and send her her very own YumSugar tote! I can't wait to see your favorite totes.

Slow Food encourages people to purchase seasonal produce from farmers markets in an environmentally-friendly manner. That means toting the goods in a reusable bag rather than a disposable one. In my opinion, carrying a fabulous farmers market tote is just as glamorous as sporting a designer handbag. Currently, I'm obsessed with this large, bright-blue tote by Chronicle Books. The tote perfectly demonstrated the publisher's motto ("see things differently") because it folds up into a flat book when not being used.

This or That: Tons of So-So Friends or One Best Friend?

Over the past year, you've been really busy with work, a ton of family drama, and your new relationship.

Over the past year, you've been really busy with work, a ton of family drama, and your new relationship. Now that the dust has finally settled and you’re starting to get back to your stress-free life, you feel a great sense of ease. But that momentary relief turns to disappointment when you try to get together with your old friends. Would it be worse to realize that you …

This: Have dozens of friends you can call up, but not one of them is the type of friend that you can actually talk to? You never had time to develop any deep friendships, so now all you have is a bunch of glorified acquaintances.

Or …

That: Only have one close friend? All your other friendships managed to disappear over time. Having one friend is better than none, but you wish you had someone else to talk to.

Which is worse?
