Latte Bowls: Love Them or Hate Them?

PartySugar and I are on different coffee schedules, but sometimes we'll grab a cup of morning joe together. Occasionally, we'll head over to the Grove, a San Francisco mini-chain known for, among other things, its dynamic coffeehouse culture, awesome vegetarian chili, and giant latte bowls.

On one trip, Party revealed her true feelings about latte bowls: She doesn't care for them. At all. "I want to have a cup of coffee, not soup," she explained. I was surprised, because I'm a huge fan. I've always thought of them as endless, enveloping vessels of comfort and warmth. What are your feelings about the latte bowl?

In Aspen, where the altitude is high, the climate is dry, and the June temperatures can crawl into the 90s, one must hydrate or perish. We tried, therefore, to drink at least 10 bottles of water a day. In that process, PartySugar and I discovered we have differing drinking habits: while she reaches for room temperature water ("It goes down faster!" she explained), I always went for the ice cold kind. What's your preference?

When the Weather Is Hot, Do You Drink Red Wine?

When we were in Aspen for the Food & Wine Classic, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. It was so warm that I didn't really taste much red wine; all I craved were refreshingly chilled whites. That's when I realized: when the weather is hot, I rarely drink reds. How about you?

Do You Enjoy Cocktails Extra Potent?

Last time I went to a restaurant and ordered a mint julep, I got a surprise that I was not prepared for. "Here's your julep," my server said. And as if she was doing me a favor, she added, "I asked the bartender to make it super minty and extra strong for you!" The drink turned out to be a little intense for my taste. But since the waitress said it in such a positive way, the situation got me wondering how many people would prefer a stronger drink.

Do You Ever Drink More Than One Beverage at a Time?

Yesterday, I was eating lunch at my desk when I realized I was sipping three drinks at the same time: a Diet Coke, a San Pellegrino, and a Starbucks coffee. While some of my friends only enjoy one drink at a time, I don't limit myself and love the opportunity to drink a little bit of everything, whenever I want it. What about you?
