Summer is just around the corner and I'm excited for everything the warm weather has to offer. From picnics and barbecues to strawberries and hamburgers, this is my favorite time of year! And with Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, and Memorial Day, there are a lot of parties to look forward to. Wondering what items we're totally obsessing over this month? Here they are, our must haves for May.
Inspired by articles in the current issues of Everyday Food and Everyday With Rachael Ray — both feature homemade ice cream — I've decided it's time to get an ice cream maker. Although I already own one, it's the kind that requires ice and rock salt. Since this can be a hassle, I'm ready for an upgrade. That's why I asked you to help me find a new electronic ice cream maker. You looked for affordable functional machines that won't take up too much space in my studio's kitchen. Then you bookmarked your finds in the Yum Market on Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag, Ice Cream Maker.
This automatic ice cream maker by Cuisinart is only $49! Although it also comes in red, I prefer the white that Bengalspice discovered. The best thing about this appliance is that I already know how to use it: it's the same model that my grandfather owns. To see more ice cream makers, browse below.

Be sure to enter in future giveaways for your chance to win a fabulous prize. Since we're giving high fives, I'd like everyone to give shoneyjoe a pat on the back: He was June's top talker! It's the first time in Yum history a male was our top talker. Shoneyjoe provided great perspective on everything from Hell's Kitchen (he's rooting for Petrozza) to Japanese eggplant (he loves it). To thank him for leaving so many fabulous comments, we're sending shoneyjoe a YumSugar apron.
If you want one, you can always order one yourself. Check out all the fun YumSugar swag below.
There's nothing like deliciously creamy, homemade ice cream. While it's a treat almost everyone enjoys, it's not a dessert everyone makes, as it requires a special piece of culinary equipment.

August is a bittersweet month - it's definitely still summertime, but you know that Fall is just around the corner. To help you squeeze as much as you can out of your summer, we've come up with a list of things you must have in order to survive. Sure you don't actually need any of these, but you know you gotta have them!
- First up is this awesome European bistro inspired French Fry Holder from Williams-Sonoma. It's $16 and comes complete with a porcelain "paper" ramekin - talk about adorable!
- These colorful acrylic tumblers and bowls will jazz up all of your backyard shindigs. Imagine them full of ice cream and other delights! Prices start at $48 for a set of 6.
- These new all-natural Popchips are super flavorful and contain half the fat. Bathing suit weather is still here, so watch what you eat, but make sure it tastes good! I recommend the potato chips over the rice or corn. A case of 12 bags will cost you $29.88.
- Protect all of your cookbooks with a modern cookbook stand. This wood and acrylic one from Luciano Lorenzatti costs $27.50 and comes complete with a built-in measurement conversion table.
- Even though July was National Ice Cream month, there's still time to perfect your own frozen concoction. This Big Chill Ice Cream Maker will make hard ice cream in just 40 minutes and the lemon yellow color is perfect to chase away those "fall's approaching" blues. Available for $199.99.
During a recent Off To Market challenge I asked you to help me find an ice cream maker. Both sis1825 and celebrity_soup found this unusual, colorful ice cream maker that doubles as a ball you can actually play with. Called the Play & Freeze ice cream maker, this gadget allows you to make ice cream anywhere as no electricity is needed. Instead, your sporty energy is what makes the ice cream: as you shake, pass, roll, and kick the ball, the ice cream gets churned. I'm not too crazy about the concept - after I work out the last thing I want to do is eat ice cream - but think it would make for a great party game at a child's birthday. What do you guys think: Ball ice cream maker: love it or hate it?
With 14 weeks of ice cream sandwiches, I know I'll be making a lot of ice cream this summer. Last year I bought an old school ice cream maker and used it a ton. It held up pretty well considering I hauled all of the pieces to parties all over the state. However it's about time for an upgrade and I asked you to help me find a new machine. You searched the internet for an ice cream maker that is durable, functional, fashionable, and easy to transport. You bookmarked them in the Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag Ice Cream Maker.
The one that I absolutely LOVE is this hot pink ice cream maker with candy crusher. It's automatic, involves no messy ice or rock salt, and is compact enough to be packed into a tote bag. Awesome find daddio49! Browse the selection of ice cream makers by scrolling below.
