Are You Willing to Brave Long Lines For Free Food?

A few weeks ago, there was a hot dog promotion at a street cart near my office, Zog's Dogs. To celebrate its one-year anniversary, the eatery was handing out coupons for gratis hot dogs. As a hot dog lover myself, I couldn't resist getting in on the deal — but when I got to the line and saw how long it was, I had to turn away. Despite the fact that we're in a recession and I'm always happy to save a little cash, I deemed a 30-minute wait for a $4 hot dog simply excessive and went somewhere else. I'm curious to know: Would you have done the same?

How Long Will You Wait in Line For a Table?

Some restaurants' lines are legendary: diners show up expecting to wait at least an hour — even multiple hours — to snag a table.

Some restaurants' lines are legendary: diners show up expecting to wait at least an hour — even multiple hours — to snag a table. One San Francisco seafood restaurant that doesn't take reservations plies patient diners with free wine. I've even been known to kill time over Bloody Marys while waiting more than an hour for brunch. But usually I draw the line at an hour and a half wait. What's the longest you'll wait in line for a table?
