How to Host a Stylishly Vintage Bachelorette Party

Throwing a memorable bachelorette party is tricky.
Tips For Hosting a Bachelorette Party

Throwing a memorable bachelorette party is tricky. The event should be festive and fun, but not gimmicky and gross. There's a fine line between elegantly tongue-in-cheek and over-the-top tacky. Does anyone really want to wear a headband with a giant dildo in public? I don't think so. Recently I went to a wonderful bachelorette party that succeeded in celebrating the bride-to-be in a traditional yet sophisticated way. It was delightful, so I took pictures to share the experience and ideas with you! The soirée was inspired by 1950s housewives and retro glamour. Here, you'll find all of the little details that made this party fabulous.

A Taste of Taste of the Nation

Last Thursday, Yum and I had the pleasure of attending a delicious fundraiser in San Francisco. Taste of the Nation is a one-night event held in major cities across the United States; the proceeds are donated to Share Our Strength — an organization that fights the hunger crisis in America. Chefs from all over the city came together to serve bites that represented their restaurants and culinary point of view. Here, you'll find out what we enjoyed at the tasting reception that was held at the Giants stadium.

Behind the Scenes: Drink Me Magazine Launch

On Tuesday March 31st, I helped create the look for Drink Me magazine's launch party at San Francisco's 15 Romolo. Since I conceptualized the decor for Drink Me's first party, they gave me full creative liability at the launch! The Alice in Wonderland theme was alcohol-centric, clean, and fun. Here you will find a closer look at the event and learn how I decorated the stylish speakeasy.

An Inside Look at San Francisco's Newest Cake Shop

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the opening of a new Miette shop in San Francisco's Marina district.

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the opening of a new Miette shop in San Francisco's Marina district. Founded in 1991, Miette bakery is known for its charming cakes made with only the finest ingredients. With its pretty green walls and bright blue cake stands, the bakery is whimsical and beautiful. At the party, guests mingled with the owners while sipping on pink champagne and nibbling choquettes — a puffy, slightly sweet French dough ball. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Have you been to Miette? What is your favorite local bakeshop like?

An Insider Look at The Bitters Seminar

Recently Lucas Bols, the spirits brand behind Bols Genever, announced a unique series of classic cocktails seminars. The discussions would happen four times a year in both New York City and San Francisco. Along with the city by the bay's best bartenders, I was lucky enough to score an invite to the first seminar, "The History and Influence of Bitters." Here, I give you an account of the event.

Too Many Burgers: Rachael Ray's Burger Bash

During the South Beach Festival, Rachael Ray's Burger Bash is one of the weekend's most coveted tickets. Naturally the event planners decided to recreate the party at the New York City counterpart. I was lucky (or unlucky — that many burgers made me sick, literally!) enough to attend the party last Friday night. While I wasn't able to stomach all 18 burgers, I did taste quite a few. Love burgers? Take a closer look at the Burger Bash!

PartySugar Behind the Bash: Best New Chefs Dinner

Saturday night at the Aspen Classic is all about celebrating Food and Wine magazine's best new chefs. For twenty years, the publication's selected and highlighted the cuisine of 10 outstanding chefs. Many of the chosen chefs — past Best New Chefs include Tom Colicchio, Daniel Boulud, and Thomas Keller — have grown into culinary superstars. But before they can make their mark on the food industry, this year's Best New Chefs had to make food for Saturday's party. To take a closer look at the details of the party, click the "Start" button.
