Coveted Crib: A Barcelona Beauty

Sometimes I think my most tragic flaw is that I'm American.

Sometimes I think my most tragic flaw is that I'm American. No matter how hard I try, I'll never be as innately chic as our European friends, and I'm always reassured of that when I get a glimpse of a home on the other side of the pond. I've just discovered the most breathtaking Barcelona apartment, which has all the elements of a home that induces envy: killer architectural details, a stately art collection, remarkably unique décor, and plush, curl-up-in-a-ball sofas. Come along for the tour.

Before and After: A Guesthouse in Barcelona

Hi everyone,

I'm a CasaSugar reader from Barcelona. In the last few months, I've been taking notes of tips, ideas, and recommendations on CS to make my own project: transform the apartment upstairs into a guesthouse. It was a challenge because the building was built in 1902 and many things, like ceilings, were untouched since. We hired a professional to take down the old walls and put new ones, install new plumbing and drainage and do a part of the electricity. The rest, better or worse, we did it ourselves with the help of family and friends. It was exhausting, mainly because we wanted to open for the summer, but we also learned a lot of things. Now we're finally open and I can say it was worth the effort and all those trips to furniture stores and DIY warehouses. Thanks to everyone who posted a tip or an idea on CS!

This is the before, but after we started installing new walls:

Take Two and Call Me In The Morning

As I've mentioned before, we've got a small candy problem here at Sugar HQ.

As I've mentioned before, we've got a small candy problem here at Sugar HQ. So it should come as no surprise that at least five of my cohorts forwarded this information to me.

In the town of Barcelona, Spain, the coolest candy store has set up shop. Designed by studio m, the store — called Happy Pills — has taken the pharmacy theme and run with it. The narrow, hallway sized shop is your standard, by-the-pound candy store, except that everything is packaged in plastic medicine-style bottles. They also have pre-packed "medical kits" and "first aid" supplies.

It reminds me a bit of the emergency chocolate bar, and well you know, I guess sometimes a spoonful of sugar is the best medicine after all.

My question is, how long until someone replaces the Sugar HQ first aid kit with this one?!?
